What I Was Trying....

This started with the idea of Buffy and some others sacrificing themsleves to cleanse the earth as a series finale which came up last spring at UPNBronze. I got the idea of Dawn providing the power source for the spell, Giles casting it from outside the circle, Wesley performing it form inside, and Everyone else as the sacrifice. The idea being the more people touched by magic who offered themselves the more powerful the spell. And Xander jst didn't want to be left behind alone.
Figuring they'd go someplace rather than die. Tara hadn't been shot then so I ahd her in on it, disbelieveing the spoilers, Jonathan too. But i got the idea that a spell of that magnitude might include resurrections of people dead on Buffy-earth joining the exiles on the other side. Aminly as a device to get back Tara , I decided "Hey, ahve anyone who thinks they can contribute to the colony come back."
Finally I decided to put it on a Larry Niven style Ringworld to tie it into a novel of my own I'm working on about people accidentally exiled to a magical world. So the "tough feet mutation" comes from the backstory of my novel. However the Buffyverse exiles arrive several years local time before the novel begins and about 1700 miles away.
I ahve a couple stoires roughed out; one having them arriving and starting a government, another the immediate followup to "Shadows in the Grass" where our heroes drive off the slaver invaders in a series of single combats featuring Faith, Willow, Tara, Cordelia, and Wesley.
Pairing Harmony with Wesley was just another example of why I paired her with Jonathan in my "Children of the Dale" futurefics over at the BtVS Writers' Guild; I enjoy implausible Harmony pairings.
Obviously I can't have the Buffyverse characters in my novel, but I think the castaways there will at some point receive a brief and friendly embassy from New California. a pair of powerful lesbian witches, a redhead named Hyacinth Kaplan and an ash-blonde named Vienna Beauregarde.
hope you liked it; will put the others up when I get the chance.
