For Christmas I'm making a CD about friendship for my two best friends from high school. I already have some, but I'd like to know what you think about them, and if you have any ideas about songs that I can include (Oh, and just so you know, we've only been friends for 6 years, so any songs about how we've been friends since we were little aren't going to work so well). These are the songs I have so far:

1. Thank You for Being a Friend ~ Andrew Gold
2. You've Got a Friend in Me ~ Randy Newman
3. You Raise Me Up ~ Josh Groban
4. That's What Friends Are For ~ Dionne Warwick
5. Anytime You Need a Friend ~ Mariah Carey
6. Best Friend ~ Brandy
7. Because You Loved Me ~ Celine Dion
8. Friends ~ Michael W. Smith
9. Graduation (Friends Forever) ~ Vitamin C
10. I'll Be There ~ Mariah Carey
11. I Will Be Your Friend ~ Amy Grant
12. You've Got a Friend ~ James Taylor
13. God Must Have Spent (A Little More Time on You) ~ * N Sync
14. There You'll Be ~ Faith Hill
15. Wherever You Will Go ~ The Calling
16. I Turn to You ~ Christina Aguilera
17. I Will Be There ~ Britney Spears
18. Friend Like Me ~ Robin Williams
19. Crash and Burn ~ Savage Garden
20. Count on Me ~ Whitney Houston
21. Friends ~ Joe Aziz
22. Friends ~ Nelson Gill

Where You Lead - Carole King
Lean On Me - Bill Whithers (or any of the two million cover versions)
Together -Bette Midler (from the "Gypsy" soundtrack)
Wind Beneath MY Wings - Bette Midler
Best Friend - Queen

As far as what I think of these songs...to be honest I'd rather drill holes through my knee caps then listen to any this music, but i understand that some people like this schmaltzy shit, so for your puroses you've made some pretty good selections (except for Celine Dion -there is NEVER any excuse for that! Razz )

So I'm guessing that when I'm done you don't want me to send you a copy of the finished product. Wink

No Jed, trust me: There is something very VERY wrong with Celine Dion.

You're young, there is still hope for you. Turn away from the dark side!

Can't help you here; the only friendship song I can think of off-hand is "Old Friends" by Willie Nelson, Roger Miller, and Ray Price. Well, yeah, there's "All MY Rowdy friends ARe Comin' Over TOnight" by Hank Williams Jr but I sense that's not where you're going with this Smile .
MEmory is an odd thing, but when you think about it, what else do we have of anyone or anything, even when they're right here with us? Gee, I honestly didn't plan on typing that when I started this post.

Mr. P - its the thought that counts if a friend gave me that C.D i'd probablly cry cuz it was so nice then chuck it in the bin and listen to real music instead. lol

oz - as far as songs go though, looks like you've covered them all, i can't think of any more.

I'd say Friend is a Four-Letter Word by Cake, but that isn't exactly a friend-friendly song. Laughing
