AerynTHREAD STARTER
Hey! I read your review and instead of waiting till I saw you, I wanted to add something.
**She couldnt reach out to the world for fear of being killed or sent into slavery, much like Spike cant reach out and affect anything due to his ghostly status. She senses the profound sense of loneliness and futility that Spike must feel and she wants to help make it better for the vampire. And it s interesting to see that she is the one who was take up Spikes causeeven to the point that she is negatively affecting her own health to do so. Seeing how worried everyone was about her was a nice touch and it shows how much overtime shes putting into saving Spike from whatever it is that is being done to him.**
Point is Fred is obsessive. We seen several examples of this in the past. It is not surprising that she isnt eating or sleeping, but trying to help Spike. Remember the sweater for Jasmine? Hmmm? I love her to death and she is truly one of my favorite characters, but she has a problem with
obsession. Which is just part of who she is and one of the things I love about her.
Also, Fred is doing this because it is the right thing to do. She is the voice of the conscious in this episode. I think she sees that Angel is jealous of Spike being with Buffy. She is standing by her convictions by helping him, because I believe she is clinging to the idea that they originally came to W&H to use the resources to help others. I use originally, because I believe they are being slowly corrupted, but that is a mute point. Back to Fred. Again she is standing by her convictions (remember the dixie chick poster comment from your Convictions review?) She identifies with Spike yes, on some levels, but he saved the world, and to her that means something.
Angel is still having a hard time saying yes, spike saved the world. He has said Buffy did most of the work, not told people what Spike did, or even say Thank you, for wearing the amulet so that Buffy didnt have to.
Ok..... I didn't mean to get off on the Angel thing, so I am wrapping this up. Loved the episode.
