Well...that kinda blows....

I liked the show....but not a HUGE die-hard fan just yet....ah well I guess they'll put on another reality show to take it's place...I'm sure the public hasn't seen enough people eat bugs for money or marry someone retarded.

Admittedly, I wasn't wild about the pilot for this series. But the last few episodes were actually pretty good. Too bad it won't have a chance to grow even farther. It was a decent weekly viewing.

Selz - I believe TRU is on the bubble...but it still on. They added Jason Priestly to the cast.

It just baffles me how the execs can cancel a show after just 4 eps. They just moved it to thursday so I thought they were backing this show and trying to give it more exposure. The least they could do is shelve it until the summer and have it air then. Many shows became hits when they were aired during the summer...finding an audience that followed it in the fall line-up.

Wretch is right...money talks. The execs look for the money and if the American public tunes in to all these horrible reality shows, the smattering of the public that craves well done shows don't have a bloody chance.

Thing is, it's not even money talks! It's not "OK, we gave it a chance, it had great quality but failed in the ratings, let's replace it", it's more along the lines of "it has great quality, let's assume it'll fail and replace it"! Or in the case of Angel "it has great quality, it's doing good rating-wise...let's cancel it just for the heck of it"!

Cable, cable, cable....Carnivale, Carnivale. Maybe HBO will add to their list of quality shows....who knows. They have a pretty damn good track record thus far. Showtime did DEAD LIKE ME. Maybe quality tv will only survive on cable.

That's the problem with Nielesen boxes, the people who get them are deliberately searched out for their below-the-bar intelligence andvalues. (I'm totallys erious; families who actually and actively pick out quality programs are pruposely weeded out because there aren't enough of them to make the commercials profitable.) And in my office building there's a conference room named after Mr. AC Nielsen himself.

Myth: the problem is the budgets on cable; they can't afford enough original programming. Vicious circle. Their programming isn't ratings-driven, so they can't charge enough for their commercial spots.

Wretch: And when was the last time an election wasn't bought? Certainly not in our lifetimes, let alone any other average Hellhound. (Yes I was raised hearing hard-core cynciism from the day I was born but it's soemtimes an attitude that helps me survive.)
As for anti-trust; well, it's technically not being violated since each of these montrosities only owns (with a few minor exceptions) one of each type of company; a broadcast network, a major film studio, a magazine chain, a radio programming service, etc.
