First off, We don't ship (or at least I don't) because of how they look. I ship for the actual relationship. Yes, we, as shippers, will talk about the looks of the those we ship, but we're only human and that is nowhere near all we talk about. We discuss the actual relationship. We discuss the pros and cons, we discuss how things came to be and why things happened. We discuss what we would like to see and what we would like changed. As humans, we do pay attention to looks, but that's not what shipping is about.

Plus, there's a difference between a corpse and a vampire. Obviously, vampires still have some sort of blood flow goin' on and they are partially alive. How else would they get it up for the sex?

And on the lines of Giles and Buffy - Giles acted as her father. You know he did and he always thought of Buffy as his daughter. Go watch the Season 4 episode 'A New Man'. Giles goes to talk to Prof. Walsh and she talks about Buffy's lack of a father figure in life and Giles gets all defensive because he considers himself her father.

It seems to me, that throughout your rant of Willow and her choice of partners, all you seem to do is bash lesbians in general. And then you go right along and insult Joss. Do you even like these shows that you are going on about? Because all I get from you are negative feelings, towards everything.

Xander not loving Anya? That couldn't be farther from the truth. He left her at the alter because he was only human and nasty thoughts and images of a horrible future were planted into his head. He thought he was doing the better thing for Anya by leaving her because he thought their future was gonna be horrible for her. He loved her and nothing you can say will make me think otherwise.

Buffy blind to romance? There's more to romance than a beating heart. There are actual feelings that need to be involved. Angel and Spike may not have been human, but they were still alive... in the demony way. And they both cared about Buffy in their own ways. Just because their hearts don't beat makes them bad for her? She needs somebody who can keep up with her. Somebody she doesn't have to protect the entire time she's out patrolling. Yes, Riley was a soldier, but he was fed chemicals to make him as strong as he was. Once those stopped and he went back to normal, he wasn't as strong as before and it was harder for Buffy to keep him safe.

Plus... on a major note... you can't help who you love.

You tell us that we need to go find a "real man". You mean like Xander who hangs out with a bunch of superheros or Riley who thinks he is a superhero? (I did not mean that to diss Xander or Riley, I'm just making a point about what Tiffany has been saying.)

Like the debate in the "Jane Espenson" thread all week. . . the role of power in relationships (both pro and con), rape, coping with rape, and portrayal of men and women in relationships? Hellhounds from both Buffy 'ships came together and discussed the pros and cons of each of the topics in a sane, rational, non-shallow way.

Is Tiffany a member of any of the shipper forums? How does she know what we do (and don't) talk about and whether or not we're shallow? Granted, in the Spuffy forum we get pretty shallow. . . and smutty. . . ok, real smutty, but the point is that we have discussions over there about the Spike-Buffy relationship and it's implications for real life.

I started reading but stopped in the middle, right when she started dissing AB's acting. Not because I was enraged, but because I realized this article has nothing to contribute to me, nothing thought-provoking or interesting, just the rantings of someone who will probably make me mad if I keep on reading. Anyone can air their opinions on the message boards, but in my opinion, the official HMC columns ought to be reserved for a higher caliber of writing. I don’t necessarily need to agree with the content, but a good column should strive to be thought provoking or at least entertaining either way. Through two installments, the Hellmouth Ascension has been nothing but blatantly inflammatory in the most amateurish manner imaginable. It doesn’t reflect well on the site. I understand that the usual “views expressed” disclaimer probably applies, but a sanctioned platform is being made available to the author. After being reviewed – and I assume it was reviewed – I’m surprised and disappointed this piece was admitted.

I have to admit I hate Tiffany's opinions as much as anybody else here but she still cracks me up. I didn't agree with but I still loved her descriptions of Spike; reminds me of the comparisons I often make between him and my future ex-wife.

Okay her comments about Amber (and sort of Emma) made me want to go back in time to my Great-Aunt Minnie's garage, get the ol' scythe off the wall, and go a' lookin'. (look at it this way, Amber seems to see herself as more of a writer-producer-director at heart herself. But tiffany probably has an opinion on that too....)

As for younger men, recall please Spike is younger than Drusilla. And by Jossverse standards, at 23 Harmony is considered a bit young for younger men.

Simple fact is, she doesn't belong on the main page. Nothing in either her writing ability, style, or content is worthy of a weekly column. If she were a qualified writer, the satire would be evident. She writes like a 13-year-old who thinks she's sophisticated.

I disagreed with the former author of the column often, but he could write. He did his research. She doesn't.

Buffy/Giles. Now that's an interesting lil ship of choice, and I'm not here to diss that one either, but I'm not a supporter. I always thought Giles to be the father figure to her, he supported and loved her as if she were his own. And with the relationship between Joyce and Giles, I could NEVER see Buffy/Giles EVER happening. IMO. I'm not looking at the age factor.

And the reason for this is yes Angel. Sure he's 200+ years, and damn right he's a cute lil hunk of beef, but at least he's cute? HUH? No not entirely, the way the two interacted on the whole non-sexual level was sweet. It was her first love, she didn't look at it in regards of him being a dead body, and I am pretty sure that most of the viewers don't view an on screen kiss between Angel/Buffy as "EWwwww she's kissing a dead body!" Cause he's not dead dead, he's just un-dead. Besides it's TV for Joss sake!

I didn't like her diss on the Tara/Willow ship. I was never a huge supporter of the ship until the end, because it took me awhile to warm up to that. I loved Amber's character, sweet and shy, a great match for Willow. Perhaps the writer, Tiff, has a skeleton hanging in her closet dealing with the homosexual population of the show. The acting that Amber and Alison did was well done. Dissing her acting abilities is purely your opinion, and true you are entitled to that opinion, you could do it in the appropriate way.

I'm a Spuffy Shipper and I can tell you now that I am not a closet lesbian, yes girls are pretty but hun, I'm strictly dick-ly. So to throw that upon a group of people is just "pffft!"

Anya was ditzy? Isn't that why she was so popular among the viewers, she said what she thought where others couldn't. I loved that about Anya. Guess that's just me though, eh? Rolling Eyes I also supported the ship between Xander/Anya...*sigh*

As for bashing Riley. He sucked. rollin' He was good for Buffy because he was stable, yadda yadda yadda, but look at it, it would've never worked. I mean yeah he only got his blood sucked by some chick once on the side, that's a great boy toy! Rolling Eyes

Don't mess with Fred/Wes. Love that ship more than Spuffy at times. One ship that seemed close to happy in the Joss World. Yes Amy Acker is a small petite girl, but calling names, waaay outa line.

I don't think I ever read the H.A.'s until I heard so much crap about it and had to read it for myself.

I'm wondering if Mac hired Tiff only so we'd come and talk about her "writing" every week because I really don't see any merit to her two articles thus far. They have no depth and lack fact. I also wonder why her lambasting of shippers, BTVS and Angel fans is allowed in a feature article each week, but if any of us posted such vitriol on the board other posters or a mod would ask us to calm down.

This last article was completely ridiculous and her piece of advice for shippers to go out to a club and meet someone is a moronic suggestion.
