So, what do you guys think about our newest writer Aeryn's first effort? I thought it was great. Especially after being so disappointed with the Hellmouth Ascention, it was very refreshing and fun to read a thought out, and thought provoking article. I say kudos to you Aeryn and hope you continue to deliver quality writing for us.

About the topic itself, this is a question that has bugged me for quite a while. I think Angel deserved his redemption when he was willing to die for Darla. So what if they didn't kill him in the end? Point is he was willing. Spike also deserved redemption when he got himself extra crispy saving the world. Darla achieved redemption when she died for Connor.

But who knows, maybe they already HAVE achieved redemption? Does anyone know a way to check that? Spike didn't go to heaven, but that was Lindsey's doing (and the Reaper's). Angel hasn't died (again) yet to see where he goes, and who knows where Darla is? I think that's the only way they'll find out. And I think that if they do find it out another way while they're still alive, they'll keep fighting. Cause I'm still hanging to Angel's every word from Epiphany... Wink

I'm not including Shanshu, cause...well, you know my thoughts about it...

Angel (or Spike) will not be completely redeemed until he/they come to terms with what they have done in the past.

Fogey - That's exactly what I'm saying, they could already be redeemed, but they're beating themselves too hard. Spike had it right, it was the demon, not him.

Thanks guys! Embarassed

You two are exactly on my thinking level. I see them as already redeemed. Fogey's insecurities hits home. I see that as very possible, because of the simple fact, one would never know. They keep beating themselves up, when perhaps it is unneeded and should focus that anger and upset channeling it into power to fight the good fight.

Truly impressive, and I can only regret how broad the topic is which forced you to limit it to the undead contingent. Several of the humans have (or had ebfore they died ) unresolved isuues which run in the same channels. But definitely on-track for the vamps.

Needed to narrow it down to the ones I did, or I could have written a few hundred pages. Smile Thanks and appreciate the feedback.

Damn, if I wasn't so lazy I'd start something like this... Laughing

tony; actually i was thinking (based on one of the essays in Seven Years of Buffy) about Jonathan; even at the end, he apparently still didn't have his motivations right morally.

So we are Fredless in LA. First I am in agreement that having a walking talking reminder of what they lost increases the hurt quotient. This is not giving short shrift to previous losses; it is expanding the world of hurt by pressing the Fang Gang’s (aka Angel’s Avengers) noses in it. That said: I would go on to say I am glad they did this. My favorite Fred was the crazy looking one who wrote on cave walls and later wrote on her hotel room wall. Subsequent to that Fred, for me, lost some oomph.

The love triangle plot line had been resolved. The scientist without a laboratory had become the head corporate research department bureaucrat. The crazy Fred was now sane, successful, happy & in love. Where was the drama? That’s why I like the way Amy gets to expand her role with Illyria. It adds a lot to the show IMHO. It also gives Amy a role that will add a substantial dimension to her image/reputation as an actor.

Oops almost forgot to say, Well done Aeryn Wink

Some comments about this week's Fredless...

Aeryn, once again, your article rocked.

Now that that's outta he way, we can get to the content...I agree that Fred's death affected everyone harshly, that's why I think Joss chose her. She was the concensus, even Spike loved her. And the hole she left is very visible. Like Spike said "there's a hole in the world" - that line just speaks for itself, very hard to miss the metaphore here.

Fogey - I agree it was geting dramaless, but that lasted for, what, 20 secs. of happiness for us devout Wed shippers and then kicking it in with some major drama? And I agree with you, I'm glad they did it. It's sad, but if I didn't know how to appreciate the sadness I wouldn't be a Joss fan, I would go watch Charmed or something...

*please wait, writer is laughing his ass off from the thought of watching Charmed. Thank you*

And yes, AA is showing some serious acting chops here, my appreciation for her has tripled itself since Illyria came into the picture. And that was already high...

Finally noticed there was another Divine Musings out. Smile I guess I missed the update that day.

Aeryn, once again, you rock. Good job. This one is even better than the last one. It makes me laugh that Tiffany actually said you have grammar problems. As an English teacher, the only things I noticed were small, like a misplaced apostrophe. So what?

Looks like I'll have something to read on the main site after all.
And you... You wouldn't be able to touch me. Because this-- this thing with you -- it's wrong! I know it! Not a complete idiot! You think I like having you here?! Destroying everything that was me until all that's left is you in a dead shell.
