Finally heard some news. The tumor was removed but it has taken all this time to get the results as to whether it was malignant or not. It was malignant but the cancer did not spread to any other part of Cindy's body. That is actually good news. She will be undergoing radiation and chemo now to hopefully prevent the tumor from growing again.
Your prayers and good thoughts are appreciated. Hugs to all of you.

hey Myth... that's good news that it hasn't spread... hope everything continues to improve... my thoughts are with you and your family
That IS good news Myth. Since it hasn't metastisized (sp?), the news is really, really good, and the treatment should be very effective.
Prayers for the hands of the doctors and nurses performing radiation and chemo. God guide and direct them. And give you cousin strength during the treatment.
Tell her to ask for a drug called Zofran. It is a real miracle for stopping nausea. It kept Rachel well during 2 bouts of chemo she did when her lupus was especially bad.
Hugs, E-mom

Myth - I'll be sending positive vibes that the chemo and radiation is effective and that they got all the cancerous cells.

Myth, it sounds like a good silver lining that it hasn't spread. I'm very happy your cousin pulled through the operation. All my best for a speedy recovery and that her radiation and/or chemo treatments aren't too taxing on her system.
My mom is undergoing chemo now. Her second time in three years. She had colon cancer two years ago and a tumor was found in her liver last year and was removed over the Christmas holidays. She has 5 chemo sessions left. She didn't have any nausea the first time around. Perhaps because she had a mild form of chemo therapy. This time is a little different, but she still has all her hair, just like last time, but that could just be a Portuguese thing...LOL. Oh and about the nausea, she had experienced some this time around. The doctor prescribed gravol, which I have used before when I had a bad bout of the stomach flu, but it knocked me on my ass. I hope your cousin's upcoming experience with the radiation/chemo treatment is like my mom's. She's doing great, she's strong... like bull.
Hugs Smile

I'm so sorry to hear that, Glow, but it sounds like your mother really is strong. Hoping for her quick recovery as well!

Thanks JK and FT. Smile She's doing very well. I hung out with her the past two days and she drove me insane and did the constant insulting controlling annoying act that she always does while my dad and I made fun of her, thus I conclude she is doing just fine.

Glow - sending my prayers to your mom and you. Such a thing to go through. I went through it with my father. His chemo was unbelievably harsh. The funny thing..before his chemo he had beautiful white hair and bald on top. After chemo, his hair came back black, curly all over and no bald spots.

A full head of hair? Now that's some positive PR for chemo. When my mom first had chemo three years ago, she went to this orientation session at the hospital and they were showing the different items you could purchase to cover any hair loss, like wigs and turbans. You should also know that my mother is a shop-a-holic. Well my sister in-law was with her and my mom got all excited when she saw the turban, she wanted to buy one. The nurse turned to my mom and said, "Isabel, you're not going to need any of these. You won't lose that much hair." I think she burst my mom's shopping bubble.
This chemo round, same thing. She still has all her hair on her head, which is good and nothing else has really changed for her either, although sometimes she has less energy, so she's lucky in that aspect that it hasn't been as rough as it is for others.

I'm glad your cousin's wife is doing better, Myth.
And I hope your mom gets better, too, Glow. I remember how hard chemo and radiation hit my mom. I know it's not easy.
