The better question is-- what would Brian Boitano do? rollin'

Wretch: I know that one too!

What would Brian Boitano do
If he was here right now,
He'd make a plan
And he'd follow through,
That's what Brian Boitano'd do.

When Brian Boitano was in the olympics,
Skating for the gold,
He did two sow cows and a triple lutz,
While wearing a blind fold.

When Brian Boitano was in the alps,
Fighting grizzly bears,
He used his magical fire breath,
And saved the maidens fair.

So what would Brian Boitano do
If he were here today,
I'm sure he'd kick an ass or two,
That's what Brian Boitano'd do.

I want this V-chip out of me,
It has stunted my vo-ca-bu-lar-y.

And I just want my Mom
To stop fighting everyone

For Wendy I'll be an activist, too,
Cuz that's what Brian Boitano would do.

And what would Brian Boitano do,
He'd call all the kids in town,
And tell them to unite for truth
That's what Brian Boitano would do.

When Brian Boitano travelled through time
To the year 3010,
He fought the evil robot king
And saved the human race again

And when Brian Boitano built the pyramids,
He beat up Kublia Khan

Cuz Brian Boitano doesn't take shit from an-y-body

So lets all get together,
And unite to stop our Mom's
And we'll save Terrance and Phillip too,
Cuz that's what Brian Boitano do.

And we'll save Terrance and Phillip too,
Cuz that's what Brian Boitano dooooooo,
That's what Brian Boitano do.

I liked the general tone of these musings. I believe Buffy was a flawed hero, which is one of the things I liked about her. I also believe that a flawed person who overcomes his or her defects makes a better role model than someone who is too perfect for a mere standard issue person to copy. I also like the theme that we should separate the actor from the character. I believe I see some posts where the writer dislikes the actor or feels they are inferior in skill because they do not like the character. A flaw of confusing the actor and the character with each other. Although I also admit to doing it the other way and accepting & liking a raunchy character because I like the actor.

I would like to make a few minor points re Buffy & money/job. I believe Joyce was the proprietor of a small business in running the art gallery. Wouldn’t that mean Social Security benefits for survivors would not apply? Joyce did have insurance but Willow mentioned that her medical bills used it up. Child support? Do we know it was ever awarded for Buffy? It is not a foregone conclusion and may not, even if awarded, extended beyond school years. Dawn & Child support? I can see a bunch of {unmarried} monks overlooking that kind of marriage & child related issue in the rush to create Dawn. I do agree a real Buffy could have found work other than DMP. My few quibbles about Joyce's providing for after death support do not really have an impact on the validity of your article.

Joyce would have still paid into the social security system even though she owned the gallery, thus it would apply. She would have had to pay taxes etc on her shop. As far as support ie: Dawn and Buffy, yes, Buffy would have been given support, and I got the impression that Hank knew about Dawn so she would have been covered as well. But at lass that is why it is questions, cause we will never know. As far as med bills and insurance, this is a good point that needs to be made. Everyone needs affordable and quality health insurance provided to them. I don't place the blame per say on Joyce, but I figured if she had two children and was a shop owner she was majorly on top of things and that the writers really made it seem like she wasn't prepared at all in something that matters.

As a non-custodial parent who has paid support and soon will be again now that the job has settled into what seems to be a permanent routine, I can say from experience that it doesn't go all that far. Of course Hank as an international businessman makes a lot more than I'd ever dream of but still.....

Tony; pointless to ask; anyone who cares about that already has an unshakeable opinion and anyone who doesn't doesn't.
