Monk - The TV Show

we've just started watching Monk on DVD and we love the show...

and he is soooooooo good at playing the part...

Favorite moment is when the kid is picking his nose and Monk FREAKS out when he eats it.

Yay Monk! It's a new one this week.

I get annoyed sometimes when they put Monk in a totally unrealistic situation just for the payoff of having him deal -- for example, when he was understudy in that play ?!?! -- but the execution is (usually) so good that I end up forgiving them.

Tony Shaloub is wonderful in this role (as he has been in many others). I also loved John Turturro as brother Ambrose, and I hope we see him again someday.

I have to repeat the episode with the chimp and his roommate. Just too funny with Monk freezing up and sitting in his chair reading the book...I was waiting for a meltdown.

Love Tont Shaloub...i think he is one fine actor in any role he takes on.

Can't pick a fave theres so many good ones. But I'd have to say when Sharona and Monk have to kiss is in the top ten.

We still have no info as to who murdered Monk's wife? I know he talked to the guy that made the bomb...but I don't know if the ep was a rerun.

Myth - It was a GOOD episode. Monk and Sharona pretended to be a married couple at a couple's retreat and Monk made Sharona sleep in a tent in the middle of the bedroom floor.

And, like most of you, I think Tony Shaloub is absolutely perfect as Monk. He does 'crazy' in such a likeable way!

I love monk. It's great. Favourite moment is when he gets to play with Willie Nelson but he can't coz his clarinet is tested by that other bloke so he whistles all the solo part. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO funny! Very Happy

USA had the ep. with John Turturro as Monk's brother Ambrose on last night. I started laughing quite hard when Sharona and Monk left Ambrose's house and Sharona hugged Monk because she felt soooooo much better about her own family. Laughing

Tony and John were so perfect together as brothers - there's just enough physical similarity between the two actors that it's easier to believe they are brothers.

And I'm getting more and more impressed with the writing on the show. The writers really knew how to write for 2 brothers and each one knowing how to push the other one's buttons. (Reminds me of the writing in AtS s5 between Angel and Spike, but less snarky.)

Ok - question for all of you. You are going to have to be the assistant to one of the Monk brothers. Who would you pick - Adrian or Ambrose, and why?

Simple...I have always loved Tony..always, so I would go with Adrian. But loving might be a problem...can you imagine?..... Shocked Now Monk attempting to have sex would be a great scene...it could fill all the eps for one season...LOL. I like JT but feel no attraction to the actor or the character...just mucho liking.

I am died laughing when they showed the family pic of the biys and their parents...all of them standing so far apart from each other. It was funny...but also very said.

Last night's...MONK AND THE BLACKOUT was cute...but not the best so far. I did love the fact that Monk was open to a date. I liked the gal who played the datemate. Couldn't help but think that Robia would have good in the part....damn, where is that girl? Perfect clean role for her on a grat program!!

Loved Monk with the night vision goggles acting all 'James Bond" and then his piggy back ride on the lady in the elevator. If I were on the elevator with him...I'd probably punch him LOL.

Ok, finally saw "Monk and the Blackout". I agree with Myth - good ep, but not the best.

I liked the bit about the roses. Monk bought the date the dozen roses but only gave her 3 because they didn't match. Then at the end of the ep he gave her a full dozen and told her they were her problem now. . . very funny.

And not only that, Tony the lucky bastich is married to Brooke _Invasion of the Body Snatchers_ Adams. Sigh, my early 80s crushes coem back to haunt me once again.

just put season 1 of the dvd in my netflix queue, should have the first disc by wensday!! im 'cited. ive never seen the show but you all said such funny things about it, i kinda have to know, right? Razz

And Monk's job interview was funny, too.

But I think the funniest bit was when Monk did his 'jig.' bwaaaaaa haaaaaaa haaaaaaa haaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed Didn't watch but I taped it. I started watching the premiere of Stargate Atlantis. It was 2 hours. I liked it... a lot. Hope it keeps up the momentum. I could find myself in another 'crush' with the character John Shepard. Growl!! I liked the way the actor played the part and he is sexy. Growl. I'll watch Monk tomorrow. I have to watch THE STATION AGENT now...I rented it and have to return it by noon tomorrow.

Dear James...I beg your forgiveness...I may be in an initial lusting of another character. In a way....I hope so Wink

Blue - your daughter sounds like a cutie. My daughter never wanted to go to sleep. Now my sons...I'd say time for bed...and they were snoring on the way to the bedroom. Now neither of them will sleep before 1 am. Sigh...I am always on teenage overload here. Need a vacation.

Fridays @ 10E/9C - premiere of the episode

Repeats run:
Fridays @ 11E/9C

Saturdays/Sundays (but day & time vary due to sporting events which USA also covers)

Mondays @ midnight E/11C

Wednesdays @ 10E/9C

Check your local cable schedule for any last minute changes/adjustments. I know that (for my area) this week Monk repeats on Sunday at 11 a.m. C but next weekend the repeat is on Saturday at 9 a.m. C.

Saba - glad you like it! It's a fun show if Monk doesn't annoy you too much. (My dad hates the show which surprised me because I basically have his sense of humor.)

Gotta say - - - liiiiiiiiittle disappointed with this week's ep. I figured out who done it before Monk did. Usually I don't. And the only scene that stood out was when Monk was looking at the list of 6 places they could hide the microphone. Otherwise I thought it was an "eh" ep.

Did anyone else notice that Emma Caulfield made an appearance? If so,why didn't anyone say something?! Evil or Very Mad

Emma was on and the killer....sigh. Well, MONK is up for 4 Emmy nominations so it is a good program to be a guest on. I thought she was good.

The black actress who took care of Monk.....awesome. I am surprised that Monk was still in one piece when she left LOL.

It was a good episode...enjoyable. I especially loved the 'battle of the patients' in the waiting room straightening up the mags.

Yeah. I liked that other OCD guy. He used to be on Will & Grace.

I watch Monk sometimes. When I'm channel surfing and there it is, I may or may not watch it. It's on now. The one with Emma.
So I'm going back to watch it now...

Only saw the end of the ep with Emma Caulfield. . . . was in Hawaii for that so I'll have to catch it on re-runs.

Just saw this week's ep with the woman who dies in the back of the store.

LOVED the bubble wrap bit. . . and how the Capt. helped Monk out. And you know what? I feel EXACTLY the same way that Monk does about bubble wrap - the bubbles must be popped!

Great that Monk was able to help out the security guard (don't want to give any spoilers so I'm being vague on purpose).

But I am bummed that I figured out "whodunnit" before Monk did.

Sigh...missed last night's ep. Saw the first 5 minutes and then my eyelids became 50 pounds each. Damn...I hate falling asleep on the sofa!! I'll have to check USA for the repeat.

Saw this week's ep. . . Sharona gone and Kevin looking in on Monk? The phone call between Monk and Sharona was wonderful -- "Stop laughing." And Kevin? Hysterical! Love him. . . he might actually be more annoying than Adrian.

USA had a Monk marathon on today (Sunday) and I watched a bunch of the eps. They are so wonderful. I think my fave is still the one with John Turturro. He did such an outstanding job as Adrian's brother.

Would you believe that I watch the last ep twice and fell asleep during the last 15 minutes. No, I wasn't bored just exhausted. Someone tell me how the cheating was done. Loved Monk's neighbor upstairs.
