Hey Everybody,
YAY I got in to start a thread    .
Let you know we're having a fine Monday start - I no longer kinda work WOO HOO!!!! But, it's like the Mafia - did the laptop & keys handover etc ...only to be told to come back on the 19th for 5 hours (to wrap up/validation).....hence "they pulled me back in".
So today is going to be spent working out what the heck I've got to get done first....'cause there is a gazillion things to do that have been neglected over the past 13mths
Oh & that pesky Christmas thing at the end of the month needs to be organised (remember I've also got to cover now the school summer break etc etc too 8-) )

It's still not quite December here, but it's all good. :D
I'm in an extremely good mood. Saw Twilight for the 5th time today, met Val, and now my roommate and her boyfriend are making hamburgers for all of us so I get good food on top of it. This entire Thanksgiving weekend has been good!
Ah PFT :P :P :P it's been December for hours here    (now 11am on the 1st) LMAO!
Twilight opens here I think on the 11th (a journalist friend has been given the free preview/reviewing tickets for this week ahead of opening).
Glad to hear you're enjoying repeat viewings VL (though if I go it'll be as late a session as possible - with as minimum amount of swooning teen dates as possible  )

Glori - I would think a weekday matinee show would prevent swooning teen dates! :D And perhaps cheaper tickets!

Holy crap it's December! Where the hell did this month go??? I'm not used to months flying by like this...so does this mean the christmas craze starts for all of y'all?
Steph in a good mood! what kind of day is this??? Better make use of it before it passes...
And of course, hi everybody!

Super that idea would work in theory. Except down here it is the summer break - there are kids EVERYWHERE for the next 6 weeks  .
Yesterday was doing Christmas shopping with LegoKing & I swear I was ready to deck the next teenage girl saying "Oh look here's the new Twilight cover - that's the movie/Mum it's over here" type dialogue   I was being brokens I tells you :o .
We are hitting our first full week of high temperatures (& therefore ongoing storm warnings). Oh why do we live in a subtropical climate - give me the snow! 8-) An idea for you it's only 7.30am here & already the mid-70s.......
But we did get the tree up last night. Was so busy getting this laptop organised (it's only 3mths old & has overheating issues so I'm trying to get it collected before we go on our vacation at the end of the week) and shopping with LegoKing that nearly ran out of time ... but we got it up

Golly, gee whiz, I feel like a dork. I kinda forgot it was December and posted in the November thread earlier today. Oh well, you all knew I am a major goofball anyway. ;)
Glori - Sorry for you being unable to get away from teens for now. I actually think there should be a shot given to most children when they reach 12 or 13 that puts them to sleep (literally, not like with animals) until they at least reach age 20. Or maybe I've just been to too many Twilight screenings with screaming, annoying, obnoxious teens over the last week.
I have to say, repeated viewings + no annoying teens + going with someone who giggles in all the same places you do is the very best way to see Twilight. VL and I had an absolute blast! VL, you get my number 1 spot on my viewings list. It was even better than the midnight show! :D

Hey! It happens... sometimes. :P And look, it's a whole different day and I'm STILL in a good mood! 8-)
Val - I'll ditto that to you as well! It's awesome going with somebody who gets everything and giggles before it happens. Fun was greatly had and we are so doing it again!
VL - Absolutely, we're doing it again! You name the time and place, babe. I'm all yours.
Ya know, I hope everyone realizes I'm talking Twilight here. *weg*
Ah, wicked evil grin, how I've missed you.

Drive-by Hi'y'alls:
Interesting; my immediate sueprvisor invited me over to her house for Thanksgiving, her first tiem hsoting; on the ride over there got to talking about age (since my own b'day was coming up Saturday) and it turns out she's the same age as Mercedes and Eliza.
Not sure how I feel about that, except that maybe i feel better about how I tend to feel about our two performers.

Hello, everyone. I'm just dropping in to let you all know that my dad had a stroke a couple of days ago. I'll pop by whenever I get a chance, but I'm going to be deep in family shit for awhile. You have no idea how much I could be here with you guys instead!

Kristie - isn't that how it always is? I'm not too bad now that I'm on break from school. Still wish I was back on third shift (third got cut and they asked me to move to first, which I agreed to 'cause I didn't want to deal with unemployment), but things could always be worse.
Steph - I think we've switched places, cos my mood is NOT good today. Not any good enough reason for it either, just one of those crap days you just wish were over.
Sorry to hear that, Val. Only the best for you and your dad.
Yo, DCA! I can't believe you actually know Eliza and Mersedes' age...and like, right off the top of your head. Creepy old man. LOL (you know I'm just kidding right? don't have a heart failure...oh, and there goes another one!)
And last but never fuckin' least...yo Oz!
And, um, just a quick question I hope not to get stoned for...what is this "Twilight" thing of which you speak so enthusiastically?

Tony; ELiza and Mercedes were born in 1980, the year I got my first real job.
SMG and AMber were born in 1977, the year I graduated uni.
ALy was born in 1974, Julie in 1972, and Charisma in 1970, and according to her original bio (as opposed to what's up now) Juliet was born in 1964. Kristine is about six months older than I am.
That's why I feel free to publcily admire Mercedes and Amber, since I just look silly doing so  , whereas if I spoke too much about Charisma or Juliet I might look like a serious stalker  .
Actually one of the other boards I go to had an annoying guy who had a semi-stalkerish attitude towards ALy. He was eventually banned. (and no it wasn't our old compadre hounds under another alias, this guy was much younger)

Hi everyone! just popping by to say hello.
Hope all is well. Just postig new pictures of the little boy.
DCA - If it's 'not stalker' you were going for...well, you kinda missed. Seriously dude, why do you know all of those birthdays? Why on earth would you care? And why do you have them memorized? And really? Charisma is older than Julie?
Yo Sweet and Aeryn...sometimes a drive-by is all one needs...especially if that someone is Biggie Smalls.

Tony; What can I say? I've always dug groovy chicks. And I'm totally used to not having a chance even with the ones I do know personally. So, I tend to absorb info on celebs.
I'm a regular poster at Amber's authorized fanboard and at a standard-issue one for Aly which isn't authorized by her but includes her father as a full member and Alexis apparently lurks once in a while. (At the Aly board it seems most, by no means all, of us are "of a certain age.") And if the Emma and Mercedes sites were still in business I'd go there too.
It's a thing.

Just in for an update guys. My dad has had a series of strokes leaving him completely unresponsive, he has lung cancer and prostate cancer that has also spread to his bones. He has an aneurysm in the vein above his stomach that could blow and kill him at any moment and that can only be taken care of surgically (and he's totally not stable for surgery). Every day is just more bad news. The doctors told my mom today that there's really nothing else they can do. They want us to put him in hospice, so I'm taking that as the doctors think he will be gone shortly. I wanted to share with you all, and any love and support would be appreciated. But I'm actually taking it remarkably well. He's suffering and in so much pain, and mentally he's already gone. I just want him to be at peace now.

Oz - Thanks for the love, sweets.
My dad passed away this morning. It's all good. It was relatively quick and painless for him. He took his last breath with the love of his life, his wife of 50 years, my mother, sleeping beside him. It's how he would have wanted to go. For those of you who have sent positive thoughts my way, thank you so much. You really don't know how much I appreciate you all.

Thoughts & prayers going out to you Val.
Hi to everyone else - am now back from my week away at the beach. It was hot, sultry & the ocean being difficult aka flash rips, undertows & general dumpy-ness -which of course wasn't enough to stop me actually going in each day.

Kristie - I'm adjusting, I'd even say close to being adjusted. But we'll see how I go when school starts up again in January and hopefully sometime in the next month or so I'll have my 3rd shift back.
Val - My thoughts are with you, sitting in a theater watching Twilight yet again. ;)
Glori - Why would flash rips, undertows & general dumpy-ness keep you from going in each day? That's just madness not to! :P
VL - My thoughts exactly  ! The boys didn't go (my other half cause he grew up in the tropics & a water temperature under 25 deg cel. is cold to him) The water was about 22-23 deg cel. - bewdiful 8-)
Oh & I may yet succumb to seeing Twilight.... a girlfriend is looking for another girl to go to it with (opened Thurs just passed) & the boys don't want to go  .

Val - So sorry to hear about your dad. My thoughts and prayers to you and your family. My father died of prostate cancer and it went to his bones. Extremely painful, so yes, if your father went fast then it was a blessing.
I'll wait until the DVD for TWILIGHT.
My baby went to live in Hawaii and I am missing him way too much  He is the most annoying and yet most 'alive' person I know and he wanted to do this on his own. He starts the University of Hawaii Manoa in January. He totally loves it over there and probably won't be back. **sobs*

Why is it only Wednesday? This week seems slow to me. Ugh.
Ok, guys... Can I just say how much it means to know that you are all thinking about me? I've had to be so strong for everyone else the last two weeks (It feels like I've lived 2 years in 2 weeks, by the way)...and there have been very few people who have actually been there for me. I know I haven't met most of you IRL, but I've talked to you and joked with you and laughed with you all for such a long time, I feel like I really know you guys. So to all of my dear NB friends; Nat, TV, Ramones, Myth, VL, Glori, Oz, and everyone else; you have my thanks and my love from the bottom of my heart.

Just wait for some Twilight pick-me-up Saturday! Much giggling shall occur!
Val I know exactly what you mean re RL (I mean I've only managed to physically hug & meet one Hellmouther....so far - I'm working on it *lol*). Love ya too. Hang in there & you know we are here for you when you need us to be.
VL & Val - I may yet actually get to Twilight on the big screen (opened last week) as a friend wants to go see it & our respective partners are well, not so keen .
VL With no work & no 'child' (he is 6' ) I've lost complete track of what day it is......... :?
Myth - WOW  I've noticed that the whole college/university experience in America seems to create a moving out of home but Hawaii (which btw is beautiful, yes, I've been there - Maui & a little of Oahu). That'll definitely be a change for you. I've got LegoKing away for essentially a month (he gets back to us on Jan 12) - so I'm hoping that years of this type of stuff will help prepare me for his eventual move out
Ramones - love you too soul sis

Crap.....major snow storm heading our way later this afternoon....up to a foot. The weatherman is also predicting 2 to 3 more storms in the next 10 days but not as bad as this first one. Guess I better go to the store and stock up, have hubby tune up the snow blowers and get the ice melt out. The weird thing is that I am looking forward to do some of the snow blowing myself. When I was watching the news I was tickled to see that there was a light snow in Malibu California....my bad

Ooooooooooh major snow storm Myth  Okay, the major aspect of it may not be the most fun but I'd be trading that for the high 90s day that is due today (with a thunderstorm late this afternoon). It's already the very high 70s (at 8am) - blurgh

Our office had its Holiday Potluck lunch for our 3 workign groups today; a general one, not required to bring a dish. There was a voluntary Secret Santa also, in which I chose not to participate.
However, one of the toher reps, the lady who trained me on our current database, got me soemthing; a size @X hoodie form Dickie's. Our higher-ups also chipped in for some other gifts for me; a Wal-MArt gift Certificiate, and I don't know or care how much, a 31-day bus pass (which I'll save til next month, a universal remote control, DVDs of The League of Extraordianry Gentlemen, National Treasure, Tuck Everlasting and BtVS Seaosns 6 & 7 (I have AMber on my wallpaer and mouse pad and they looked up her credits. )And a DVR. And a semi-portable TV. I've said before, this isn't a dream job, but it's a good job. and I really mean that.

Sounds great DaddyCat - always good when the job is bearable.
I've been spoilt rotten with the contract I've had for the past 14mths. The people (mostly) made the job easy - especially given it was the first time I'd ever done that type of job. Plus both yesterday & last year the organisers included me in the Christmas/end-of-year events. The company throws a meal for each shift which is catered for (3x spit roasts plus salad & dessert) & they hand out a company gift. This year was a BBQ tool set (last year was one of those fold-down camping chairs). Plus they hand out a $50 gift voucher (when you think there are about 70ish people at each plant & expand that out....)
As of yesterday I'm now done with the gig. But, both sides are open to future work together - but, due to the 'current economic climate' (isn't it the way at present) no one really knows what next. This company's Head Office (the Big Kahuna Head that is) is in Finland so a lot of restructuring etc is being done.
Aaaaaaah - today is only in the high 70s so far (with 63% humidity).......give me a storm dammit (well ok, not whilst out this evening celebrating the summer solstice)....
