Call my team leader and tell her to stop being so big and loud. Whenever she makes tea it's like

*CLANG* spoon in cup
*CA-CLANG CA-CLANG CA-CLANG* stirring the sugar into the tea
*CLANG CLANG* tapping the spoon against the side of the china afterwards

Then she's on her computer

*BANG BANG BANG* mouse on the desk, trying to get the screen to come back on
*THUMP THUMP THUMP* on the keys typing out emails

She's big and loud and irritating and nosy and interfering and always in the damn way all the time.

Can you call my place of work and yell at them for not giving us ANY overtime?

For the past two days I've been forced to leave work early so that I wouldn't get any overtime. I'll have a straight 40 hour work week instead of my usual 42 hour work week, which is fine 'cause I get all my hours, but instead of starting the no overtime thing next week, they've forced everybody to go home anywhere from an hour to two hours early. Heck, the supervisor for the back of the factory left 3.5 hours early. It's ridiculous! Stupid work.

Moron - "hello?"
Me - "management please"
Moron - "Speaking?"
Me - "Yo fuckface how's it hangin?"
Moron - *starts to talk and is interrupted*
Me - "yeah yeah anyway, shut the fuck up and listen for a moment, so why are you being a cheap douche and not allowing overtime? You have issues with paying your employees who WANT to work? Are you really that retarded?"
Moron - "whoa, who are you? You don't understand, we have to cut costs!"
Me - "Well then asshat, I suggest you stop spending company money on cocaine and whores unless you want me to call corporate!"
Moron - "I would NEVER! Those are lies!"
Me - "We'll soon find out won't we jerky?"

Nora, you rock! And that comment about the cocaine and whores is funny 'cause everytime the owner talks to us, the workers, it's usually about some vision god gave him and he ends up trying to hug everybody. It's actually kind of creepy and I make sure to run away as fast as I can before he can hug me.

Okay, so I'm going back to a 4 year university, the one that I was originally at before dropping out and going to Australia. Last month I went in for a meeting with my new department (I switched my major from Music to English) and the lady I met with printed out my transcripts and laid out for me every class I need to take in order to graduate, which matched exactly what I had already figured out on my own. She told me I was well prepared and I wouldn't need advisor approval to register for my classes. I have junior status so I can register before a lot of other students. I go to register today, the first day I'm allowed to, and it won't let me. It says I need advisor approval. So now I'm waiting for my advisor to call me back so I can register. I'm only taking 2 classes 'cause I'm going to keep working nights full time. These 2 classes are the only required classes that aren't in the middle of the day. I can't sign up for any other classes because then I won't get any sleep. If these classes get filled up before my advisor gets back to me, I am going to be very very pissed off. And this will probably turn more into a rant than it currently is. This is the informative part, you should probably expect incoherency later.

As a twice round university alumni (at 3 universities no less....try transferring an undergrad degree between univerisities - that's an experience) and an ex-uni staff member I can say they are a Very Special Place of Existence !

Having said that I've been in a college situation as a staff member & have gone totally nuts (are we not surprised *LOL*) and am currently on the books for TWO colleges in TWO states . I must've knocked my head harder than I ever though LMAO.

Good luck VL....& er, my bad, when & where in Oz did you exist (if you don't mind me asking)?

Owner!. Surprise birthday party banquet thingy on 24 hours notice and still lacking in the details. We want to be out on the terrace if the weather is good but not if the weather is bad so I'll call you in the morning and let you know. Of course we may decide to move to the main dining room if we get there and the weather is chilly so you'll have moved all that furniture for nothing. Oh, and we want a bar and no we aren't actually paying for the room set up or the bartender and we can't tell you what the 18 of us will be ordering until 7 but dinner's at 8.

AAAAAAARG!

They must think I have superpowers.

Of course, it's not liver cancer or brain surgery so I don't know why I get all het up. If only over time was paid on a daily basis instead of weekly average. Grrr.

Think I'll send my Spikebot over to take a little nibble. That should solve my problem

VL I vaguely remember going along the Great Ocean Road (I claim teenage boredom for the bad memory). You'd remember Hobart cause it's in Tasmania (the island down below......kind of like a sub-Antarctic Hawaii LMAO).

Superspy sounds pressured. Urk!

Sweet, I remember that but in the I can't walk up/down stairs so I'll be buggered getting out of the house more than once a day! Plus I gave up sleeping lying down......

*growl* I interviewed for "my" job (it's the job I'm currently contracting on) Back on May 23. I was told the following week that they were just going through the formality of checking my references. THEN I was told that they're playing email/phone tag with one of my references.

CAN I PLEASE JUST KNOW RIGHT NOW WHETHER OR NOT I HAVE TO GO JOB HUNTING?????

Fiat - You can have my job. It's in the US, so it would be quite the commute, but I'm done with it.

Today I was made the scapegoat for all things bad service. I'm never in the dining room (sometimes you've gotta pee, or fix the computer, or fight with the chef), I've been late three days in a row (not!), and I am apparently personally responsible for a waitresses (lack of) service. I let the staff order (and pay for) food. AAAAAAAAH! And the woman whose arse I royally saved today threw me under the frickin' bus by saying she had to walk people to the dining room. Like bloody hell! Stupid bint. I may not have been there to seat everyone, but my busser sure has hell was.

Nevermind that I do the scheduling, that I do the cleaning, the organizing, the making sure the linen order was sent properly before we have to pay it. Or that I talk the place up, give tours, sell room (none of which is my job, btw), and make sure our guests are happy.

Dumb AAA guy with his 2-star rating. That would again be my fault. Joss knows that nothing could ever be anyone else's fault.

That's alright though. My last day shall be July 1. Now all I have to do is tell my uber-nice direct supervisor who, incidentally, was given a thorough thrashing for my bad behavior.

Bless The Powers that Be, people. It's just food service. It's not like we're performing lung transplants or providing hunger relief to poor nations.

F**K. I'm so outta there.

Thank you for listening.

My nearby neighbours have a small yappy dog, and just lately I have noticed that it yaps ALL THE TIME. I don't know why I never noticed before, but now that I have it irritates me incessantly.  That and my immediate neighbours' dog howls and barks when they go out and leave him on his own. Okay-I never got a baby shower at my job. They kept talking about it, but never did it, and I actually really needed it. I went on maternity leave at 6 months because I was on modified bed rest and couldn't work, which meant a whole month without salary, then disability benefits which are only 60% of my salary, until I went back to work 5 months later.

Fast forward to May of this year. My coworker gets a HUGE baby shower, with streamers, balloons, cards, little presents, and a changing table (those are expensive for those who don't know), along with gobs of food. Then she announces that she is not coming back to work because she wants to stay at home with the baby, so obviously she and hubby aren't exactly hurting for money. So my feelings are just a little hurt at the disparate treatment between the two of us. Now today, I am being asked to bring shit for another baby shower. For who, you ask? My male coworker whose wife is having a baby! And we were just talking yesterday about how close the baby is to being here, and I asked "do y'all have everything?" He said "yes, everything we need and it's all set up and ready to go!".

I don't want to piss on anyone else's parade, nor do I want people to not have something simply because I didn't. But it really hurts my fucking feelings! Just a simple fucking acknowledgement from the bosses, like "hey, I'm sorry we never got around to doing anything for you" would suffice. But as it stands, I feel like the bastard red-headed stepchild here.

It gets better: the shower was yesterday. I spent over $20 on nice baby shower plates, cups, napkins, decoration, etc. I did not give to the gift fund as $20ish is all I had in my budget. An email comes out from a coworker in the morning saying "for those of you who contributed to the gift fund, please come by my desk to sign the card". I about flipped out.....so the money I spent on the party doesn't count? The people who spent money on bringing food don't count? I'm sorry, I have one kid starting college and one in diapers, I have to stay on a budget. Not only that, they got more than enough cash as a bouncer, a Boppy pillow, and then several small gifts were purchased. How friggin' tacky do you have to be?

I emailed her back with "Just so I'm clear, this card is only for people who gave money to the gift fund and not for those who spent money on food and decorations?" She replied an hour later with "Anyone can sign it, it's at my desk". Um, then why not just say that in the first place if that's what you meant?

Bunch of pompous, exclusive assholes.

Colleagues suck. They're either stingey assholes or they shower you with cakes and presents etc. in an attempt to 'buy' you. My team leader does that because she knows none of us like her. I was very careful to make sure she didn't find out about my birthday. Fake affections are as bad as being flat-out ignored.

LOL that's ok. As it turned out, my attempts to hide it from her were in vain because somehow she found out anyway and sent me a card and gift. For a week now my office has had Internet problems... and finally yesterday we found out why - our Internet provider temporarily shut off our access because apparently we had one or two computers infected by a trojan. So this morning, I get into the office at 8AM to solve the problem with our computer technician (as communications director, apparently I'm the resident IT expert... even though I keep saying I'm not an expert, nobody believes me). While me and the computer technician are running around running malware removal software on all the computers, all the other staff have congregated in the lobby and are chatting and gossiping... and occasionally complaining that they can't do any work because we've taken away their main work tool (gee, when Internet is down, I usually take the opportunity to do some filing, cleaning or return some calls).

Then after our Internet connection is re-established, at about 10AM, I run updates on the anti-malware software and run a new scan on the computers that were the most compromised - including the front desk secretary's... who proceeds to whine loudly that she can't do any work! And then, when the scans are finally done and I can finally take a break, my intercom beeps and the front desk secretary goes "It's the office of Senator X on the phone, they called yesterday afternoon to get such and such file from you, what's going on with that, have you done anything about it yet?"

My snippy answer: "What's going on with that is that I just spent the entire morning toing tech support."

This is from the people who also wonder why I haven't done anything yet to make spam stop.

What I should reply is that the day I do find a way to make spam stop, I'll be making a lot, lot more money.

I have just spoken to two people, back-to-back, that expect someone to pay for their housing and childcare while they are in school. WTF?!?!?! It would be great if that type of assistance were available, don't get me wrong, but why would any sane person growing up in the US expect someone to cover those expenses for them? Did I miss something? All those years I worked full time and went to school part or full time while raising a child, I never once thought "gee, someone out there ought to pay my rent and daycare and utilities and food because I can't possibly work and go to school"! Bloody hell! You want help paying your bills beyond tuition and books? It's called a student loan, fuckwad! GYAH!
