Okay, the gumby goddess here is trying to work out how to do an avatar.

I lost the one I started with & have no idea how to do one via my own files (I don't have a webpage etc etc).

Any tips how? (You'd think by now I'd know ).

You can create a http://www.photobucket.com account to host your own images (either from a website or computer). I find it's easiest.

OR

You can go to one of these sites to host images

What sprook said.... :)

I think we use to host images for everyone, but we're not doing that anymore, sadly. The folders in the database can get clogged up with all of that, so I'm being a bit more cautious about what we upload. Like sprook said, you can get a free account at photobucket or other image hosting sites.

I've been trying to download an avatar code from Photobucket. But when I paste it in the "Link to Site" box it says the URL is invalid. The image is small enough.

I've done this before several times for other sites and it always worked.

I didn't see an option for downloading directly from my machine.

Can anybody help please help me figure this out?

Thanks

You should be able to put a link to the image in the appropriate box. It doesn't need anything else except the link. No code is needed, as far as I know. (I should probably know that definitively though, huh?)
