Seven Sins
Envy
she smiles reptilian
ocular green and black
coiled about the stillborn heart
her bones are composed of string
threading needlebare
soul a girlchild dream
destined to wake alone in
sweat and lace
delirious
learn to scorn the fruit
you can never reach
those grapes
it aches
Lust
he’s strange tongues
all grasping with fusion
heart wild and blind
thrusting
lusting
combusting
all aflame inside
but dead without
that fire
cold dissolve
Pride
tones of velvet she
loses herself in another
reflection and
barters flesh for glass the
beautiful whore stands
alone a church
of one
crucified by a
sidelong gaze
echo weeps in her solitude
Wrath
aura reddened armageddon
no touch could satiate the hate
atrophy the entropy
find another way to
feel alive again
he cries with his fists
upon her shoulder offered
bare and shining with his tears
Sloth
sleeping sickness
growing bloated with complacency
drones and droids in
the static of an old television
pixel blue sky and
technicolored sunlight
are only felt in the hollowed
caverns of the living but dead
and there’s a world some forgotten
god created
divine heritage in man-made
two-dimensionals
Gluttony
made whole made
two halves of a whole
two wholes
“your eyes are bigger than your stomach”
maybe, but give it time
the latter will soon catch up
Greed
manipulating he first
learned how to count
to count his riches and
learned how to speak so
he could ask for more
