and at this point, I might as well start a remake/adapted from thread Laughing
Jim Carrey 'The Six Million Dollar Man'?
Friday, March 5th, 2004 - 12:42 PM PST
Source: USA Today
The Six Million Dollar Man: USA Today recently spoke with Starsky & Hutch director Todd Phillips about his upcoming adaptation of the TV show, "The Six Million Dollar Man"...
"I like the idea of what we can do with the concept," says Phillips, who adapted another '70s television show, Starsky and Hutch, which opens today. "The TV show took itself so seriously. I want to see what happens with a lighter touch."
He's got the perfect bionic man for that touch: Jim Carrey. The elastic comedian has agreed to take over Lee Majors' role and play Col. Steve Austin, the crippled test pilot who is rebuilt with nuclear-powered limbs and implants to become a super intelligence agent. The film, which has not begun shooting, is due next year.
Phillips promises not to make too much fun of the show. "If your movie isn't sweet at its core, then it's not going to work with audiences."
Still, he has no intention of adjusting The Six Million Dollar Man for inflation.
"No, he's not going to be The Six Billion Dollar Man," Phillips says. "He's not that great."

Fogey; well her talent would suit the material.
Wretch:look on the hemi-demi-semi-bright side; at least nobody has publicly mentioned Tom Arnold playing Andy Taylor yet.
General;well, a serious remake wouldn't be do-able;not that i was fond of the show when it was first on anyway, I only watched it because there were only three networks and in my upstairs room I couldn't tune in the old movies on UHF.
As to things we don't need; well, we get those anyway so is this any worse than ?

oh look, I spoke TOO FRIGGIN SOON!:
Jessica Simpsons talks about her possible upcoming slate
Friday, March 5th, 2004 - 12:55 PM PST
Source: MTV
Jessica Simpson: A recent article over at MTV has actress Jessica Simpson talking about her possible upcoming slate and production status of the films she's screen testing for. It seems after her hit show, "Newlyweds", on MTV finishes it's run, Simspon could be one busy starlet.
Simpson had previously expressed interest in filling Barbara Eden's harem pants in an upcoming "I Dream of Jeannie" movie (see "Jessica Simpson Dreams Of Jeannie Role, But Sitcom Comes First"), but that project has stalled as it looks for a director. So now Simpson is seeing if she can squeeze into Catherine Bach's hot pants in the movie remake of another classic television series, "The Dukes of Hazzard." Ashton Kutcher and Paul Walker are currently favorites to play Bo and Luke Duke.
"I would love to be Daisy Duke," Simpson said. "I think that would be so much fun, just to wear the shorts. I would get to have my own car. I think it would be a blast."
Simpson recently met with producer Bill Gerber to discuss taking a part in the TV show adaptation, which, like the CBS show that aired from 1979 to 1985, would focus on the adventures of two Southern cousins who race around Hazzard County in an orange Charger named the General Lee. Gerber sang the singer's praises when he described the meeting to People magazine, saying Simpson is "young, moral, bright, gorgeous and Southern everything that Daisy is."
"The meeting just went really, really great," Simpson said, "so we'll see. 'I Dream of Jeannie' is a little further behind, so the 'Dukes' will be first to go. I honestly don't know when I'll find out, but they start shooting in May or June, so let's keep our fingers crossed."
Simpson's also keeping her fingers crossed for a long-hinted-about Marvel Comics movie, the details of which she'd been keeping quiet about. Now, however, she's confirmed that she shot a screen test for "Mort the Dead Teenager," based on an adaptation of an obscure, out-of-print title that follows the ghost of a teen who is commanded by Death to haunt the friends he had during his life, including the girl of his dreams (the role the singer wants).
"It's an adorable script," Simpson said. "I would love to do it. It's the next 'Back to the Future,' it's that cool. I think it'll have a cult-type following. It's a clever, clever script, and the way it could be shot would be really cool."
One glitch the film is languishing in development. Steven Spielberg and Robert Zemeckis bought the books for adaptation, commissioned a script and enlisted Elijah Wood to play Mort. Then DreamWorks sold the rights to Artisan Entertainment. Then it was sold again, this time to Quentin Tarantino's A Band Apart and Madonna's Maverick Films for them to co-produce, with distribution by Dimension/Miramax. Now, a rep for Dimension says they're not involved, and a rep for Marvel says there's no director, leaving the project in limbo.
"I think it's just about placing it with the right studio," Simpson said. "And if they can still get Elijah, that would be perfect."

Im actually looking forward to Mr Jackson's film as he is a devoted fan of the original. Back in the 70s Universal and Paramount announced competing remakes. Paramounts made Dino Kong with Ricj Baker in a monkey suit and a 50 ft robot designed by Carlo Rambaldi that did nothing. Universal's would have been period 30s and featured stop motion animation ala Harryhausen. Guess which one I wanted to see?
Regardless...I am an extra in the Dino Kong for the finale at the base of the World Trade Center. And got to meet John Agar and get knocked over repeatdely by Jeff Bridges.
But alas I am the face on the cutting room floor........

I saw that King Kong movie. That movie sucked.
The Lion, Wich and Wardrobe movie comes out Christmas Day 2005, and I think that Disney is going to release it. Also, rumor has it that Jackson has agreed to do the Hobbit movie. hm...since they are doing a Luke Cage movie, are they going to do an Iron Fist movie or a Cage and Fist movie. Confused
Lone, the Iron Fist movie has been in development for a while now. It was to be a solo act with Ray Park playing Iron Fist. Lion's Gate just re-upped their license on this property and added Black Widow. Marvel movies in production or scheduled development currently are:

The Punisher
Spider-man 2
Blade III
Man-Thing
2005
Fantastic Four
Elektra
Iron Man
Ghost Rider
Luke Cage

Saw the previews for the new PUNISHER movie. I like the actor in it (he was in DEEP BLUE SEA). Didn't Dolph Lundgren play the Punisher in a movie or two? The new one looks cool and John Travolta plays the bad guy.
Saw the HELLBOY preview again too. I actually hope that it is good because I would like to see it.

I'll be extremely disappointed if Hellboy isn't any good. I love the comics and Guilermo Del Toro, the director, does too. This is going to be a movie made with repect for the source material. I can't wait.
As for the Marvel movies, Spidey 2 is the only one I'm really planning on seeing. Maybe Elektra next year. That's also the only 2005 movie on the list that is definate. They start shooting this summer. None of the others are beyond the development stage as far as I know.
DC, on the other hand, has 2 movies now filming. Keanu Reeves is shooting Constantine (based on the comic Hellblazer) right now and production began last week on Batman Begins. Very Happy

Jackson hopes to film Rings prequel
NEW YORK (AP) -- Peter Jackson won't be returning to the Shire any time soon.
The Oscar-winning director is planning to film The Hobbit, the prequel to The Lord of the Rings, trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien, but two studios must first fight over legal rights to the film.
Jackson said New Line Cinema has the rights to make the movie, but MGM has the rights to distribute it.
"I guess MGM's lawyers and New Line's lawyers are going to have a huge amount of fun over the next few years trying to work it all out," he told reporters recently in Los Angeles, according to AP Radio. "I'm obviously busy for a couple of years on King Kong so those lawyers can just go at it for a long time."
The Hobbit tells the story of Bilbo Baggins, who found the ring and eventually passes it on to his cousin, Frodo Baggins. Frodo's journey to Mount Doom to destroy the ring is the basis for the Rings books and films.
Jackson said if he were going to direct the movie, he'd want it to feel like the rest of the trilogy. On Sunday, Jackson won an Academy Award for best director shared the adapted-screenplay award with his two co-writers for the final Rings film, The Return of the King.
"I'd want Ian McKellen to be back as Gandalf, I'd want it to feel like it was part of the same mythology that we've done with Lord of the Rings," Jackson said.
The Return of the King swept this year's Academy Awards, winning all 11 categories in which it was nominated.
Jackson is in the middle of remaking King Kong, due out next year, starring Naomi Watts.

Wretch; since your stint as an extra in THAT MOVIE was cut out, I feel under no obligation to change my firm conviction that THAT MOVIE does not exist, was never made, is a false entry in the annals of film history.
(If Dell Comics were still around maybe someobody could get the rights to do a Brain Boy movie.)
SevenofTEN: Well, in a prior Fantastic Four movie which as I understand has been supressed MErcedes Mcnab played Sue Storm as a young girl; maybe she could do the part again, how oild was Sue supposed to be anyway? She was actually enaged to Reed at the beginning, but she was quite a bit younger, but he was still part grey,sooooo.......

An Astro boy movie, that might be interesting to see Very Happy
I definitely want to see Ghost Rider the Movie. i loved the comic when i was younger Very Happy
some tidbits today: Andy Serkis (AKA Gollum/Sméagol) will apparently be playing not only King Kong himself, but will also have a bigger live action role as Lumpy, a ship's cook.
and they're toying with another classic....Wolfgang Petersen (Troy, Air Force One, Das Boot among others) will be directing a remake of Bullitt. no one's been cast so far. I'm....iffy. I don't know if anyone can take over Steve McQueen's role
and here's another interesting tidbit. Petersen will also be directing Ender's Game, based on SF Author Orson Scott Card's novel (there are 7 books in that series so far). Card will be at least in part, writing the screenplay.
