Wow, the year just flew by. Soon Thanksgiving will be here and Christmas is just around the corner, but first Halloween!! :D

Sit back and relax and lets have some fun.

It's the season of candy :P

Holy Crap! It's October. How the heck did that happen? Oh well, the good news is...only 49 more days until Twilight!!! :D

So, what is everyone going to be for Halloween? I'm going to be a flapper this year. Good news, I like my costume and I cut my hair so I already have the 20's bob covered. Bad news, I'll probably frickin' freeze! And could nobody please tell me I'm too old to dress up and burst my bubble. ;)

I still have to figure out what I'm gonna be for Halloween. I was Wishverse Buffy last year.

Oh, and happy October everybody!

Happy October and good morning, everyone.

Puts out the Urn o' Coffee and International Coffee's flavored creamers. Mmm. Irish Coffee.

Am nursing my mild hangover this morning. Went out with the hubby and my former bartender (whose last night at work was Wednesday so we celebrated our freedom). We were bought drinks all night long. Had one too many lemon drop shooters.

As for Halloween, I think I am going to be a dog handler since the kids have decided to be puppies. (When I first typed that it came out 'dong handler'. Would make the husband happy, I suppose.)I'll wear a cheesy suit with ugly flats and go for a Best in Show kind of vibe, as opposed to my aunt's tasteful show outfits.

Alright, I think I have embarrassed my family enough for one morning.

Happy October!!!! :o

Only 15 more days until my stress is OVER!!!!!

I love Halloween - I'll probably be a Honeymooner this year - I have not time or money for a costume! 8-)

Val - I was a flapper a couple if years ago! It was FUN - but I have REALLY LONG hair and that was a paing in the @ss with the wig - and my hair is even LONGER now (for the wedding) so NO way I could fit it ina wig! :D
SMILE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes the year definitely flew by! It was the first of the year I found out I was pregnant. And now I have a little boy.

I'm not dressing up, but Aiden has his costume already for his first Halloween. Actually he had it before he was born. Hah.

VL - I wanted to be Bella for Halloween this year, but I couldn't find a wig that was anything close to Bella-like. Then my husband had to go and burst my bubble by mentioning that Bella is eighteen...not so subtling hinting that I'm a bit long in the tooth to be Bella. Drat him!

Nat - Dong handler? ROFLMAO!!!! Make sure to keep hydrated. Best thing for a hangover.

TV - Going a bit risque for Halloween this year, huh? LOL! Considering you will be an actual honeymooner, I suggest skipping Halloween this year and just staying in bed with your significant other. If I could get away with it, that's what I'd do.

Sweet - Dont' keep us in suspense! What is Aiden going to be for Halloween?

*completely not touching 'dong handler'. So many jokes, so not enough typing space*

Val - Bella would be cool except she's kinda a normal teenager and while I don't dress like a normal teenager (thank Joss) or even really feminine (I'm a jeans and mens t-shirt kind of girl), I think I'd just confuse people more than anything. Kind of like last year when everybody asked me if I was supposed to be a soldier. I think this year I'll try and think of something a little more obvious. Just don't know what...

Sweet - awww baby's first Halloween. He'll never remember it. So, what's his costume and when can we see pics? :D

Hey do any of you remember Slayer Eyal from the old HMC? I caught up with him on Facebook, totally by accident, he seems to be doing well. :)

Selz - oh wow, I DO remember him!! Very cool!

Halloween... Otts and I will re-do our pirate cave setup on the front porch again this year. I'd like to add some lighting, but I don't know where the money would come from. LOL

Now that I've been at my job long enough for people to get to know me, I've warned some that unless I have a "serioud" meeting on October 31, I'll be at work in costume. What they don't know is that it'll be my RenFaire gear!

Sweet - Baby pumpkins are always cute for the first Halloween. Elizabeth was a monkey for her first. Ryan was a frog...Elizabeth was a witch that year and we told everyone she'd turned him into a toad (he's never going to forgive me when he grows up, is he?). ;)

Tony - Have a great trip!

Selz - Hey chickie! Yep, I remember Slayer Eyal too. Tell him I said hello!

Fiat - I'm sure you'll be a big hit at work on Halloween. I always enjoyed working places (and with people) who didn't take themselves too seriously. I wore a flannel nightgown, slippers, and curlers in my hair to work on Halloween once. Pity I overslept that day and didn't get to wear my costume, huh? ;)

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice! hehehehehehe. I was at this same office for Halloween last year, but it had only been two months and people didn't seem like they were going to dress up, but I couldn't figure out if it was just people who didn't like to dress up or if it was somehow frowned upon. So I came to work in all black with a spider necklace and spiderweb tights. Someone said I looked like an adult Emily Strange. Works for me.

I've got my voice back. Woo & a mighty big Hoo. Been off the planet with a bout of tonsilitis & laryngitis :o I know, a HellGoddess without a voice (if UK & Ramones reads this shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh - *whispers, the others don't know how much I really do talk*).

When did October happen? I missed the memo. I miss out on my Halloween fix. Have friends that usually throw a whackin' great big H'ween bash each year but o/s commitments see it not happening (we did a pseudo Danse Macabre for his 40th in August instead).

Hope everyone is doing fine & those with weddings looming ......hang in there :D

LOL! Sorry I haven't been around much, Nat. I'm afraid that with just over a month left before it opens, I have nothing but Twilight on the brain. It's all I can think, talk, or type about. I was afraid if I hung out at NB too much in this condition, I would soon be stoned (as in the ancient form of execution, not the other kind). ;)

Fiat - I'm glad you found my nightgown, slippers, and curlers costume amusing. It did seem like something that only I would do. I don't remember clearly, but I think that I might have even carried my old childhood teddy bear around with me that day too.

Glori - Glad you're feeling better. I know what it's like! Whenever I get the least little bit sick with anything, I lose my voice. It gets damn annoying!

I'm actually really looking forward to this halloween. I might even take him trick-or-treating. hehe. And then eat all the candy.

Sweet, you wouldnt be the first mom to do that  . Almost all my friends who have kids take them and then eat all their candy.
Superspy11 posts in this thread
#22 · Oct 13, 2008
I don't eat all my kids' candy, but I do eat some. Then we sit down and decide what stays and what goes. After that, it goes into their treat buckets on top of the fridge where it can be used as leverage in behavior modification! "If you can stay in your bed all night, without coming to mommy and daddy's, you can have a treat before breakfast!" Works like a dream. :D
valeri299 posts in this thread
#23 · Oct 13, 2008
Nat - I just may try that! Ryan comes into our room at least once a night...sometimes two or three. When my husband is on business trips and he knows his daddy isn't there to get mad at him, he wakes me up constantly. I swear during the last trip there was a night when I tucked him back in about 50 times (I'm not kidding!). I'm just about at my wits end!

Ah, the trials and tribulations of the Halloween candy... Do any other parents out there find their kids still have leftovers in April?
Superspy11 posts in this thread
#24 · Oct 13, 2008
Val - April?! I have found candy from last Halloween. I just don't let my girls eat that much of it. Popsicles, pudding, ice cream - vices all. But at least I can justify those by thinking about milk and calcium. I know, delusional much? Personally, I think this year I am going to hand out little packs of Playdough. Saw it in the store today. That way, there'll be no left over candy either!

Nora I'm sure I wouldn't be. Except Aiden doesn't even know what "trick-or-treat" means...or what candy is. I need to take advantage of the free candy as long as I can until he wants to eat it!

Nat - LOL! Thank you for giving me my first non-Twilight thought this week. When I read your post, all I could think of was Charlie Brown with the little bowed over Christmas tree. Awwww, poor little tree. ;) No, I don't think you killed it, at least not on your own. Maybe if I could get over my Twilight obsession, my brain would actually be able to function normally and I could form coherent sentences. The latest symptom of my addiction? I'm now consumed with reading Twilight fanfic!!! I never even did that with Buffy!!!! I do have to say, there's some exceptionally well-written Twilight smut out there. *weg* I promise though, to give my fixation a break now and then and stop by NB more. Oh, have I mentioned only 35 more days until Twilight the movie opens. Hmmm... Do you think there's a Twilight rehab I could check into?

Lone! How are you? I see you're equally addicted as me, just with comic books instead. Believe me, I totally understand!! :D

Stirs from couch.

Hey, VL. Sorry you had to get up so early.

Grabs a latte and begins reading her copy of Vampirates.

Hm - LegoKing would probably like Vampirates. It's YA literature, but good YA literature. And a fun story.
Vampire Lady8 posts in this thread
#38 · Oct 21, 2008
Vampirates sounds interesting... I'm assuming it's about Vampire Pirates. Or maybe even Pirate Vampires. ;)

It's not the waking up early thing I mind, it's the getting my hours nearly cut in half that I mind. And the whacked up schedule of MWF is School followed by work and TR is Work followed by School then go back to work. It's crazy, but at least my work is letting me do it instead of telling me to go collect unemployment.
Superspy11 posts in this thread
#39 · Oct 21, 2008
VL - Vampirates is a YA series by Justin Somper. Written for the tween-early teen crowd. I'm enjoying it, as is my 11 year old nephew, which is why I am reading it in the first place. And yes, they are vampire pirates. Well, some of them. But not the killing kind of vampires. I love how we like to romanticize the vampires and make them semi-honorable.

Still can't seem to get past the first few pages of Twilight. (Sorry, Val.)

I'll be sure to add Vampirates to my 'to read' list.

And you're crazy for not being able to read Twilight. That book is the definition of awesome!

#41 · Oct 21, 2008
Hey Super, I'll hunt around for a copy - I think even I'd be interested in that. I'll inform LegoKing of that one.

Mind you at present he is going on about some game (he plays via PC cause I'm a nasty mummy who won't allow another gaming platform in the house - well other than a PSP & PC that is  ) where they are using stuffed teddy bears as a weapon against zombies (he is becoming a huge zombie fan.....I'm for ninjas & he is for zombies   ). Oh & you can watch the teddies in bullet time .

VL - I understand your pain re Twilight - want to see my opinions go have a look in that thread :? Also, that is one very busy load you are doing at present. Does sleep get a look in?

I'm in the last 6 weeks of my project contract then I've no idea what I'm doing next. Think an employment bridge has been burnt (was kinda expected) & the fact that business/education cycles in Australia match the calendar year means at least I get a break over summer (Dec & Jan).....unless of course I find work with another private provider etc. Eeep, I may even do a return to relieft aka substitute elementary teaching :o .

Hei Ho.....it's off to work I go (now).

Glori - Sleep? Is that some sort of newfangled creation? Maybe it can be used along with the Teddy Bears to fight off some zombies!

I wish I were in Australia right now. Then I wouldn't have to worry about my house being so cold. I remember your summer. It was hot but not humid, which made it very bareable. Granted your winter was bareable too. I walked around in a light jacket the entire time. Was very happy to not have to worry about snow.

Sweet - He is just adorable! I like the froggy costume!

Nat - You absolutely MUST give Twilight a chance. Get through the first few pages and discover the deliciousness that is Edward Cullen! It may not ultimately be your type of thing, but at least give it until chapter 10. Chapter 5 and chapter 9 are two of my favorites out of the entire series. Yes, I am that sad. I do remember exactly what happens in each of these chapters without having to consult my book.

I've seen the comments over in the pic thread & I'll reply there on (my) weekend. Our internet connection has been caught up in "excessive d/load" usage and, as a result we are running at dial-up speed (not our usual cable broadband). Which means with 3 computers wirelessly connected etc - it's so very very slow - this thread is okay due to not many pics :o .

So come November 1 I can type & reply to my heart's content  .......So, not abandoned anything, rather just constrained by technologomy  or big business plans :? .

Have a happy week people - the US'ians must be on electoral overload....we're on electoral overload for YOUR election so you have to be  or else the financial crisis gets more airtime *sigh*. Urgh put it on Joss shows instead    .
