I saw CONSTANTINE and I liked it. I look forward to seeing some movies and then I am heartedly disappointed....so CONSTANTINE was a nice surprise, Better then I expected.

Saw CURSED. I understand that the studio heads demanded editing and some script changes here. Too bad...the final cut was not good. Potential wasted once again.

Just watched MAN ON FIRE on cable with Denzel. I liked the movie when I saw it on DVD and I still do. Intense. Loved the music score.

I too saw Constantine on opening night, and I *loved* it! I'm a big Keanu fan, so it would have taken alot to dissapoint me. Laughing But I really loved Constantine, the effects were one of the high points of the movie (the angel in the conveience store is a really beautiful image, as is how Hell looks.)

Oh, and not to get OT, but Myth: When does James' movie come on TV? It's this month, yeah?

Saw:

Terror of Mechagodzilla! oooooooooh yeah! that was fun. CyberGoji, Goji challenging with earthquakes, the titanosaur that has this wicked elephant-like screech and poofy 70s haircuts :-p

Donnie Darko: Director's cut. Enjoyed it alot, very existential/80s/out of its mind.

rewatched

Pink Panther, always a classic.

Kirsten; Harrison Ford was younger in that movie but he wasn't all that very young; it was made after the original _Star Wars_ film.

Saw The Incredibles again with my pops...damn, that was fun. It was even better the second time, and the pretty-mediocre animation didn't bother me that much, and that's the only fault this movie has.

I didn't have the time and I should not have done it...but I snuck out and saw the new flick THE UPSIDE OF ANGER with Kevin Costner and Joan Allen. Wonderful movie. I don't know if this would be considered a chick flick or not but the men in the audience liked it. It's funny, sad and endearing. Joan Allen is incredible and Kevin Costner shines. Good to see Cosner back in a role that shows his talent.

I bought Haggard: the movie today but haven't watched it yet. It's a movie written and directed by Bam from Jackass. And it's the true story about how Ryan Dunn's (also from jackass) girlfriend would cheat on him constantly. I'll tell ya'll more about it once I actually see it.

Ring II - It was. . .okay. It didn't live up to my expectations, nor did the first one the first time I watched it. It has some really great scenes, and it had some really cheap crappy thrills. Overall I'd watch it again, the reviews weren't completely wrong or right.

Okay, so I finnally got around to watching Haggard and it was AWESOME! Wonderfully vulgar. Most of you probably wouldn't like it, but I think it's very good for a first time writer/directer. If you like movies that are made by jackasses you should try and track down a copy of this movie.

It is season 1 episode seven. *sigh* It is the same year he did moonlighting.

Speaking of which, I saw him in Oceans 12 playing himself. That was a riot!

I saw the Premiere of Shooting Livien (Jason Behr & Dominic Monaghan) last week. I'd give it a 7/10 because it does that annoying bouncy camera thing that so many indie movies do when they want a 'realistic, gritty' feel.

Sorry if anyone has already discussed this one but I saw Alfie over the weekend. I thought it was ttthhhhp....even with Jude Law prancing around looking pretty. Wink

Ramones - I had no problem with Julia...and I will almost always prefer a selfish bastard to a lowlife...cause I can see why someone would be a selfish bastard (the whole world is), but not why someone would be a lowlife...but maybe that's just me.

With this movie I could tell that I'm too young to relate to it...same thing I felt with Lost In Translation, I'm really not it's audience...but I really liked this one anyway as it was very interesting. I'm hoping none of my future relationships are like that...I'm already one up since I'm not a selfish bastard or a lowlife...at least I like to think so...

And yeah, I really missed actually talking about a movie with someone instead of just giving a grocery list of what I saw, which is what's been happening for a while now...and love talking to you in general!

Mr Tony so agree with you.... Too many lists too little discussions.
(color me guilty with the lists...SOmetimes life is too busy for fun)

re:Closer:Have to say gimme me a lowlife over a bastard any ole' day. Lowlives I believe to be inbred selfish bastards are more a product of free will. Although I will say if forced in either direction I could make a case ofr either. Call it gut instinct and pure emotional response to character types. I know emotion has no place in debates. That is what I love about background thought brought to movies it is all this emotion, mind and history. What a killer combo.

re: Lost in Translation: I got this film. I do believe age and a sense of disillusionment is necessary to get the beauty. I found it disturbing and emotional and absolutly beyond wonderful. I know that feeling. I live it. It is so reminiscent of the Talking heads song Once in a lifetime. ..This is not my beautiful life....how did I get here...??? These are the kinds of questions examined and felt. Hubby hated it fell asleep. I am always transfixed at the simple beauty. Also gotta admit to being a Bill Murry freak. He is brilliant and so underated. He is subtle yet amazing. He speaks volumes with looks.

Mr.P/Kristen: So glad to see that the shiny Roberts Penny is not a universal attractor. Re: Kidman, Still think her finest was Moulin Rouge. She was sparklin' in that one. Not sure anyone but her could have swept Ewan off his feet.
Now he is one that I love to see. suprise me...He ally sheedyand man I love Patricia Clarkson. She is frikin amazing. She can emote pain in a glance. She is brilliant. I also think/agree that too many are going for a name verses who is right and brilliant. Stars tarnish actors shine.

NOISES OFF is a standard in this home...my daughter has always loved it.

I watch movies when I do taxes (I actually do better with certain distractions) so I rented ELECTRA. So glad I didn't see this at the theater. Not good but not bad for home dvd viewing.

Also rented SIDEWAYS. I tracked this movie way before the hub bub and Academy Award nominations. I decided to wait for the dvd release mainly because I started hearing all of these mixed feelings about the movie...mostly how over rated it was. Well, I loved it. Paul Giamatti is such a sad sack and I am glad that Thomas Hayden Church was in it because I have always liked him. I laughed until I cried over the 'car crash' scene as well as Paul running into the waitress' house to retrieve Church's wallet. Good cast. I am a fan of Sandra Oh (she's married to the director) since I first saw her in ARLISS (a delicious series now cancelled). I've seen her in other films and she is a superb actress. Virginia Madsen amazed me. Her part wasn't that big but she brought class and feeling to this film. Good to see her back. This is a film to just sit back and enjoy and let it take you away into the lives of the characters. Gee...now I know about Pinot Very Happy

Tones - I can't drink wine but I used to date a guy from Europe that was big time into wine tasting so it brought back memories. I found the wine talk interesting though mainly due to all the vineyards in California and the horticulture. Color me weird.

I needed a break so I saw MIAMI VICE and I was surprised...I liked it. Decently done and kept my interest.

THE DESCENT comes out tomorrow...I have seen it already...the European ending one. It is getting awesome reviews and I have to say....'meh'. No way does this film compare to ALIEN like the ads say...NO WAY!! I guess it just rubbed me the wrong way, like it was desperate to come up with something new but it felt so tried and tired to me. The European ending was the only thing that rang true for me and I am sorry that the American public won't see that until the dvd release. Please note that blood and gore does not make a horror film for me and THE DESCENT has a great deal of it.

Why were you so suprised about MV, Mythie....it is Micheal Mann after all?
Myth14 posts in this thread
#47 · Aug 5, 2006
Mr. P - I liked MV the series and I have liked everything that michael Mann has done, but I've reached that stage where I don't trust remakes or I am tired of them. Does this make sense? I also thought that this would turn out tobe a 'star' vehicle with Colin Farrel and Jamie Foxx and Man kept a tight rein. CF and JF made a good team and neither tried to outshine the other. I also liked the 'roughness' to the movie. I guess I forgot how good Mann can be at telling a story and putting it well on screen.

Plus you need to remeber that Mann was the creator and EP of the original series. So this would be like Joss making a Buffy movie 15 years form now.

*comes out of the shadow...and fog*

Saw the funniest movie the other day

too bad it wasn't meant to be funny

Premonition (2004) a Japanese Horror movie that has a piece of newspaper that predicts the future. It growls. It follows it fliiies. Anyhoo the main character watches his daughter die - just as the newspaper predicted *gasp*!! mind you he took his sweet time to try to avoid what the paper predicted. The movie picks up a few years afterwards when the newspaper taunts him again!!!!

Also watched Van Helsing (among many others...too many), and I'm glad I didn't waste my money on that stinker in theaters....too much reliance on SFX, little on plot...or personality....or smooth storytelling...

speaking of Stinkers....The Empty Mirror, a movie about Freud analyzing Hitler after WWII (surviving in secret), it sounded so promising but the performances just fell so ...flat. I can see what the approach was meant to be but....It was just...to much. Plus, I kept thinking back that I was actually watching John Cleese as Hitler (and it wasn't him, it was just the actor who played him went to a place...).

Oh while I'm at It. Didn't Like Alexander, what is this, a scotsman's revival? A High School Play? LMAO. Oddly enough, I liked Troy better.

*falls back beneath the shadows*
- I like revenging!
- Oh boy sleep! That's where I'm a viking!

I finally got out to see Superman Returns. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Looking at all the ads it looked to be one of those movies of "look what special effects we can do" and I was pleasantly surprised it wasn't completely like that. Although I did find the storyline to be slightly predictable and timewise they could have cut a half hour off it somewhere.
