Yanks beat the Yorimuri Giants but then lost the next night to the Hanshin Tigers.
Thank goodness that Yanks split and won against Tampa this morning. Now off to Sunday when the rest of the league begins their season. O's v. Red Sox should be good Very Happy.
For one day Tampa was in first. Hope they enjoyed it. It could be the last time this year Laughing Laughing Laughing Twisted Evil

Pardon this question from a completely non-Baseball knowing person...but....where do the Texas Rangers stand this year?
Snowballs chance in hades of winning?
Just asking, as an ex-Texan, you know. They were my mom's favorite team, and I always enjoy baseball season in remembrance of her.
Even if I don't understand a thing about it. Laughing

Is it true that to appeal to the growing number of hispanics in Atlanta that the Braves changed their name to the Bravado's? It was on the radio this morning...... Didn't know if it was a possible joke or not. It was in the news section.

Aeryn - I don't know. That is news to me. I have to check ESPN on that one though, but I think that sounds like a joke.
E-mom - sad to say in my opinion the Rangers have a snowball's chance in hell. Even with A-Rod they were still a last place team. I think that it will be a long season for the Rangers. The Rangers need pitching and that's something that they don't have. I think all Texans will be rooting for the Houston Astros this year.
Sigh. Ok, Lone. I'll take your word for it. My mom loved them, and when she watched (about 10 years ago) they still had Nolan Ryan. Talk about a pitcher!
Anywho...thanks. Have a nice baseball season. I don't watch, per se, but when I get really lonesome for my mom, I put baseball on and listen. Makes me think of her.
Maybe the Rangers will get a decent pitcher soon.
Hugs, E-mom

Wretched - busy Mets weekend with Cedeno getting traded. I think the Mets are going to trade for Bradley soon. Hope Leiter is ok
What a cool opening day. and the surprise of the day the Detroit Tigers have a winning record for the first time in three years LMAO. Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Definitely will be watching Houston v. SF with either Pettite or Clemens pitching. Maybe will catch the Mets, but can't wait for the Yanks to start again. Very Happy

I was watching the Astros and Yanks game last night. Both Mussina and Pettite were terribnle. I think Pettite misses Yankee offense now LOL. Mussina has that reaching the 200 win milestone choke.
Mets looked good last night. It will be cool if the Mets stick it to their archrivals early
What a first week. who would have expected after week 1 that Tampa Bay and Detroit are in first place. Thank goodness that there is still over 150 games to go Laughing Laughing
Pettite has been placed on the DL- he strained his elbow swinging the bat. Clemens may also be exposed to the injuries that come with having to hit and bunt in the NL. The Astros without Billy Wagner are also not lights out with a lead like they used to be. This may not be the great pitching staff that the Astros were counting on going into the season. Go Cards and Rays.

Wretch - rumor has it that the Yanks might go after Randy Johnson or the Mets Al Leiter sometime next month.
Mets had a great game last night with Piazza spoiling Clemens gem. WHat comes around goes around. Ben Sheets striking out 18 against the Braves. Who knew the Brewers have a good pitcher like that Razz
Rumor has it that if the Mets are still contending in July then they might try to trade for Johnson that is if he wants to waive his no trade clause. Mets are in third just 3 games back of Philly
Wow - lone!

Yanks back in first after the Bosox got whipped by Tampa Very Happy Razz
Almost two months complete and will the Mets and Braves make the push or will the Yanks buy the whole league Laughing Laughing

Vibes - i think Giambi will be back in a week. I just hope that Jeter is finally out of his funk. on the bright side, yanks had a 6 game winning streak without Giambi.

Vibes - Sox lost. well they got clobbered 13-4. The AL East is now tied. Very Happy
Sox better worry about Lowe. Twisted Evil
A quarter of the season now complete, it has been a good season with a few surprises. Right now, the big surprise is that the Reds are in 1st place in the NL Central Shocked
Benitez can't pitch for crap in NY, but when he goes to Florida he's now all that. I hope that he self destructs. At least the Mets are still in it. only 3 1/2 back
Lead expands Twisted Evil
Yankee rumor mill - Seattle is offering to trade Freddy Garcia for Contreras. Cashman pull the trigger damn it and see if you can get Boone as well Twisted Evil Laughing
With Interleague games starting tomorrow, let's hear it for the Mets winning 6 games against the Fish and Phils and still in the race for the ML East with 3 1/2 back and tied with the Braves. Maybe trade rumor will soon begin surfacing for the Mets. If Oakland and Seattle are out of the race maybe Garcia and Zito. (Of course I rather see them in pinstripes Razz )
