Even though it's Satyr Day. Twisted Evil

Watched SWAT yesterday and today - not as bad as everyone says...think Passenger 57 (without the characterization) and any Seagal/Van Damme flick and you get the idea - slick, violent and loud.
Well shot and edited...and femme hot SWATtie Michelle Rodriguez. Shocked

The story's predictable and idiotic - but hey, shit blows up...real good. Rolling Eyes

Wretched, SWAT is the best damn movie in the entire world. And I'm not just saying that because Michelle Rodriguez happened to be in it....Okay, actually I am just saying that because Michelle Rodriguez was in it. But that's good enough reason for me.

This weekend so far I have sat through the Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the remake, not the original). I guess it's sorta bad when you find yourself routing for the crazy man with the chainsaw to kill off the rest of the cast, but oh well. Actually, I don't think it was too bad (considering it's competition these days). But then again, the last horror film I watched before this was the remake of Dawn of the Dead...so I sorta graded Chainsaw harshly, to be honest. Hopefully I'll rent something better for tomorrow, either way.

Nieces spent the night last night so we watched:
Looney Tunes Back in Action...... hello product placements and can you show us just how many people are associated with the WB once more. I did find myself wanting to kill the frog.
Aladdin......Still solid movie
The Miracle Worker.....Sorta CGI movie about Christ for kids. Really good.
Black Beauty..... Never saw this before and I cried. So sad. Alan Cummings was the voice of Beauty... was he in X-2? Where do I know the name from?

Otts - good times. heh heh... Actually, my old SN just decided it was going to create a mind of its own so I took the opportunity to dawn an old image... err, new image. feels better than the old one. I think I'll keep it.

Aeryn - I thought The Miracle Worker was about Helen Keller...

Mike - I've actually seen that one. SLC Punk was the movie that inspired a close relative of mine to die his hair green, pink, and every other color of the rainbow alternating between every two months and even start his own punk band. I guess that was about three years ago now. They still play shows today. I remember him showing me that film shortly before that phase began though.

Aeryn - Yes, that was a good memory. Actually, I'm not sure if I can qualify that as a "memory" as I don't remember much about what happened that night. I do remember saying the quote that changed my life forever... but the next thing I can remember is asking Mac to make out with me before passing out on the floor. I hope HellhoundCon is that much fun... (crosses fingers) and maybe Mac will say yes this time. Laughing

LMAO Thanks, Otts! I think I may have been still sober when I said that one though...

Oh, yeah! Movies! I'm thinking about just renting all the Nightmare on Elmstreet films and watching them in order over a free weekened being as I've never actually sat through a single one of them. I need a good marathon to keep me occupied. And I've really been trying to catch up with my 80s horror film viewing. I've never even seen the Evil Dead movies (mostly just small fragments of them). But I think I'll skip Re-Animator for the time being.

watched North by Northwest. heheheheheeeeeeeeeeeeeee I liked it a lot. and I think Hitchcock missed the bus a long time ago Laughing Martin Landau is a freaky-looking young man. recognized Edward Platt too, the chief from the Get Smart series. Cary Grant still wanting his mother's approval Laughing gets out some funny faces too. were just as lost as he is in the first hour mind you. good pacing and execution, a bit dated of course but it doesn't take away from the enjoyment.

I watched The Human Stain today. I expected a too-long-artsy-fartsy-annoying type of film, but it ended up being really good! I liked it a lot. Anthony Hopkins always rocks. So does Kidman...not just a pretty face.

Also tried to watch this French(?), well it was IN French, film called Demonlover. I used the word tried because it sucked so bad that I turned it off half way through. Sooooo pointless and it went absolutely nowhere, boring as hell. I recommend it highly! rollin'

X-man Riggins, me thinks he success of Aliens has more to do with who was helming this brawny space epic, James Cameron, that the decade that spawned the Hughes/Ringwald oevoure, Freddy and Jason's ad nausea.

Agreed. Cameron made the movie what it was. Well, him and Goldstein's rendition of Vasquez. I was sorta hoping they'd give Cameron the series again... or at least the scripting again. Alien 3 makes me quiver watching just how badly they destroyed what potentially could have been one of the greatest space trilogies of all time. Even Resurrection was better than part 3, but I sorta disregard the last 2 films and hope they later say it was all a bad dream. But I know it won't happen. One can dream, though. One can dream.

saw On The Town, Frankie and Gene are so damn cool! I loved this movie, not even close to Singin in the Rain but still very very fun to watch.

Watched Godfather 2 again in film class, i love that movie so much, all the characterizations and intecricies, so awsome, IMO way better then the first.

Hmm...I always hear that Godfather 2 is better than The Godfather, but I tend to disagree. I think I would have liked the sequel much more if they had only focussed on the storyline from the 30s instead of the continuation of Michael Corleone (maybe save that story for the third film and make it more of a trilogy). But the way they are, I just think that part one offered more of a dynamic picture.

What I watched this week...

Urban Legend - I'd like to say predictable, but I didn't figure out who the murderer was. I know a man who did. Laughing

Stepmom - weepy.

Carrie - Freeeeeeeeaky! Sissy Spacek could give me nightmares.

Fluke - Cute... still trying to figure out whose idea it was to make a kid's movie out of an adult's horror novel.

Shaft - (the 2000 version)... not that impressed actually. But mmmmm Samuel L Jackson. Twisted Evil

Educating Rita - very funny. Julie Walters is brilliant at acting any part she's cast. Michael Caine was great too.

The Mexican - vaguely funny in a couple of places, but mostly crap and boring, especially considering it had Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts.

Spellbound - documentary movie about a bunch of kids entered in a National Spelling Bee. It's supposed to keep you on the edge of your seat, but I couldn't get into it.

Just a couple of movies then. Rolling Eyes Laughing

Hey, everyone moved house while I was away! Shocked

*looks around at new digs*

Oh well. I didn't see nuthin' this weekend - no even a midday move on the telly Confused

I started to watch "Master & Commander" , but it was on preview DVD and had a dodgy stereo mix - and i aint watchin' it in anything but 5.1 baby.

I'm not really looking foward to seeing it too much, despite the fact that Peter Weir is pretty much my favourite director in the whole wide world.

oh- i did watch the opening on "Manhattan"just for the eye-watering Gordon Willis black and white cinematography and Gershwins "Rapsody in Blue" - Allen's best by a mile!
