Fiat - Look at the $2K dress, but if it's not what you want, don't talk yourself into it. I made so many compromises for my wedding, and I'm still bitter about them 12 years later! In fact, I'm MORE bitter now! I didn't want to have a receiving line. I, personally, think they are pointless and stupid. Isn't that what you have a reception for, to give everyone a chance during the course of a several hour long party to offer you their congrats? Anyway, long story short (too late), my mother-in-law insisted on the receiving line. I actually still cared what she thought of me at that point and I gave in. Can you tell from the tone of this post how I feel about that little compromise? :x

I agree about wedding sacrifices - I'm getting married again in October and it's TOTALLY what we want. On the beach and I'm wearing a Sundress!!!!!!!!! I did it all the traditional way the first time and I was bored and didn't rememebr any of it. Not that traditional is bad - it's just not my way!

Thanks val & TV! I know where to turn for a reality check with all this.

In terms of dress, I really want something that I will love AND that doesn't blow my budget. I'm hoping that starting to look now will make that a bit easier.

Congrats on the wedding! Absolutely do it your way this time! I've thought about wanting to renew my vows with H1. Not because I feel our marriage needs it; just because I wouldn't have a hideous wedding dress this time (all wedding dress fashions were horrible in the mid-1990's...they all had huge bows on the butt!). ;)

Depends on where. Out here, they're less expensive. You tend to get more room for your dollar.
