I know that there are quite a few people here that read this series, so here's a place to talk about the books and upcoming movie. Oh, and I don't know if any of you watched the MTV movie awards, but they premiered a scene from the movie on the red carpet. Here's the link for everyone who's interested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rl7TelZ47Kg.
First read through, I adored the first and third and hated the second. Second read through, I adored the first and third, and the second was much better on the re-read than originally. I think it's 'cause I knew what was gonna happen. The first time through I found Jacob boring, the second time through I appreciated his character a little bit. Candace, try re-reading it and see how you feel about it. You may change your mind a bit. Still not as good as 1 or 3, but not as bad as I originally thought. And even that is still better than a lot of other stuff out there.
Yeah, I've been wanted to re-read all 3 of them for a while now, but I think it's going to have to wait, seeing as how I have about 35 books out from the library to read and I just started my class this past week, and I have a ton of reading to do for that class to. And boy was that a long sentence.
Ramones - You want to know if anyone else is going crazy waiting for the fourth book? OME!!! (For those of you who don't know, that stands for Oh My Edward!) ;) I have pre-ordered and am counting the seconds until August 1st at 10:00 p.m. for my local Barnes and Noble's Breaking Dawn party to begin.
VL - My obsession did fall short of buying a second copy of Eclipse just so I could read the first chapter of Breaking Dawn. I did go to the bookstore, pick up a copy, find a comfy chair, and read the first chapter of Breaking Dawn...twice. :D
Oh and by the way, I ordered a Twilight Moms t-shirt just to wear on August 1st...and to the movie on December 12th. *sheepish grin*

Glori - I know you're going to love Twilight. Stephenie Meyer does some extremely interesting (and original) things with vampire mythology. She also does well using Pride and Prejudice as the basis for the romance. I knew when I read it that Bella and Edward had the whole Elizabeth Bennet/Mr. Darcy dynamic going. However, when Edward's behavior confuses and frustrates the heck out of Bella and she still can't stay away from him, I can't help to think of my favorite Buffybot line to Spike, "Darn your sinister attraction!"

the second trailer is up and looks good. Cool fight scenes.
Hey all, have collected library today (it's currently in my library bag on the bed *lol*). Realistically, will get to start reading between Thurs & Sat this week (pending schedules)...then I'll let you know my take on it all.
Funny - collected Twilight & Blood Noir at library - kinda 2 ends of the vampire spectrum non?

I'm waiting for Blood Noir in paperback. I have all the rest in paperback and I'm cheap but want to own 'em.
Me thinks I may be able to re-read all the books again about twice before Breaking Dawn comes out... I may even try.
All of you have made curious enough to want to read the books except I can't do this for a while. The next book for me is 600 pages long and deals with Patent filing. Don't you feel sorry for me????? I do. Sigh. Ahh....beach....Florida.....October.
I am just tickled by the fact that the author is a wife, mother and Mormon. Damn.....those Mormon gals must love their vampires. BTW...she adored Spike

Is anyone else planning on going to a release party?
ME! According to Borders.com all Borders stores are having one but I'm gonna call mine and just check with them. If they are, I'll be there, if not, I'll check Barnes & Nobles.
I'm going to my local Barnes and Noble's release party with my sister. I have gotten my niece addicted to the Twilight Saga (I loaned my copies to her) and my sister is going to buy my niece her own set of all four books that night. And I'm going to wear my Twilight Moms t-shirt I ordered if it gets to me in time! :D
By the way, for any of you who might be interested, Borders is releasing a Twilight (the movie) calendar on July 25th.
My sister now has my copy of Twilight, so I can't revamp it before Breaking Dawn is released. Grrrr! Arrrgh!

My Twilight Moms t-shirt came in the mail today. :D
When I ordered the shirt, I could only see the logo on the front. When I took the shirt out of the package, I turned it around expecting an all black back and was confronted with the words, "Bite me..." ROFLMAO!!
I think I may need some sort of support group. Is there a twelve-step program for this kind of thing? "Hello, my name is Val and I'm in love with a fictional 17-year-old vampire. It has been 6 days since I picked up one of the Twilight books to get my Edward fix."

My sister and I are going to the Barnes & Nobles at the mall near us, since that's where we ordered our copies. I guess the owner wasn't sure if she was going to have one or not, but then she talked to my sister and she was really excited about it so they are.
JediOz - Good for you and your sister! I'm glad you spoke up for your right to a Breaking Dawn party. I'm absolutely stunned that your local Barnes & Noble owner was even considering NOT having a launch party!

Yeah, I know. It's just so utterly beyond comprehension.
I knew about the Twilight extra on the Penelope DVD. I've been considering renting it, but I hated to do so just for the Twilight stuff. Thanks, VL for saying that you liked the actual movie. That makes my decision easier!

OK, I am an extremely happy person right now. I got a letter in the mail from a professor whose class I'm taking in the fall, and as part of it, I have to read 22 YA books from various lists. Well, one of the lists is sci fi/fantasy, and the entire Twilight saga is on there, yay! So I can re-read the books and get class credit, how great is that?

Myth - Thanks! I think I'll go out and rent Penelope today!
JediOz - That's about the best class I've ever heard of. That's even better than the Children's Lit class I took for which I had to read Where the Wild Things Are!
ONLY 8 MORE DAYS TO BREAKING DAWN!!!!
Not that I'm excited or anything.

RAMONES WROTE:I know I have pre-ordered mine so it will come to my door!!!!! I am such a geek.
Screw getting it at my door! I'm going to the local Borders for a Breaking Dawn party Friday night and have reserved my copy to be picked up and bought at midnight! I will be going from there to home and reading right away! It's good to work nights, sometimes. Makes it easier to stay up through the night in order to read an AWESOME book! Too bad it's the last in the series, though. That makes me kind of sad.
Darnit! I didn't get to rent Penelope while H1 and the kids were out of town. My local Blockbuster had no copies left! *pout*
For those of you interested in Twilight news, you may want to stop in at twilightmoms.com and check out their news blog. They've had a ton of news links the last few days because of Comic-Con, the upcoming movie, and of course the release of Breaking Dawn.
*looks around at all the bouncing hellmouthers & moves slowly...with caution*
Just thought I'd let you all know I've now (finally) read Twilight. Might be a bit til the library gets New Moon & Eclipse to me & due to popularity have put a hold on Breakind Dawn so I should hopefully get it close to the others....
Hmmm, read it in 2 & a bit days (around work) as it was a very easy, or rather I want to say smooth, read.
Boo, I got a call from the B.Dalton I pre-ordered my book from and they said they're not going to have a midnight release party. Now this doesn't mean I'm not still going to find one and go, but I have to wait until 10 on Sat to get my book!!!!! How will I ever survive?!
Borders are having a release party. They said for everyone to wear their prom costumes. I laughed.

I'm going to my local Borders. Will be getting my book and hopefully be home no later than 1am. Then I will read all night. One of the good things about working 3rd shift, I'd be up anyways and now I actually have something to do! :ugeek:
You read faster than me. This makes me sad. Still finished it in about 10ish hours, not including the time between reading that I fell asleep. I just couldn't get to sleep after work/before the release party 'cause I was too excited! I got maybe an hours sleep, so it was kind of inevitable. But I did get it finished on the second, which was basically my only real goal.
I loved it! There were some parts that I felt kind of went on a bit, but overall I was very pleased. And shocked as hell. Candace can attest to that since I sent her a randome "HOLY SHIT!!!" text message and then wouldn't tell her what it was.
