Hippie - I'm so sorry about Ike. Were you guys hit hard? We actually got hit by what was left of Ike in Ohio on Sunday. On Sunday afternoon there were over one million people just in the Cincinnati area without power. I just got power back at my house Tuesday morning. No school for the kids either the last two days. And we got nothing but one horrific wind storm! Some trees were snapped like toothpicks. Others were completely pulled up by the roots (and we're talking mature trees here!). And I know that we got only a small taste of how truly destructive this storm was!

Good to see you too Val. I have been out trying to find a life, haven't found one yet though so instead I have just been doing boring work.
Hope everything is good with you :D

I can relate to the boring work thing. Although mine is more boring than typical. I'm going through a stay-at-home-mommy depression at the moment. It's all just gotten so monotonous. Sometimes I feel that if I do one more load of laundry or wash one more dish I'm going to scream. If you've ever seen the movie Mr. Mom, I'm going through the same kind of "throwing in the towel" stage that Michael Keaton goes through. ;)

Hey Val - Give me a couple weeks and I may join you. My las day at work is Monday and then I, too, will be back to the stay-at-home mom thing. I think running library story time may be my saving grace. But I'm also kind of excited. As I said, couple weeks, we'll start a support group.

Selz! Now you know that is complete and utter nonsense! You are beloved around here! It definitely wasn't you!
Nat - It's taken me a good six years to get to this stage in the stay-at-home-mommy experience. I can't even whip up excitement for my volunteer stuff anymore. I basically just want to sit around the house and read books all the time. I can thoroughly lose myself in a book (believe me, it doesn't even have to be a good book) and forget about my surroundings for hours...sometimes days. It irritates me when I actually am forced to leave the house. Well, at least I'm not obsessively watching soap operas...yet. ;)

Good morning, all.
Lays out a fine spread of doughnuts, muffins, bagels with cream cheese, smoked bacon and, of course, COFFEE!
It's my first day of non-employment (at least on a consistent basis, still doing the freelance music ed thing) and I must confess to being a bit sad. Not because I'll miss the job, but because I will miss (many of) the people I worked with (okay, 2 in particular) and I will miss (again, most of) the customers I served on a regular basis.
Help, I may start weeping like Jesus.
breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out
So, how's everyone's week going?
:?

Nat - Sorry I wasn't here to distract you this morning! I had kids to take to the doctor (Elizabeth is coming down with a virus). And kids to get on the bus. Then I had some Girl Scout parent come over to fill out paperwork. It was a busy morning. Darn it! Now all your lovely breakfast spread is stale. Oh well, like that's ever stopped me before... *Val grabs a blueberry muffin, sits in the corner, and contemplates if it would cause an NB revolt if she created an Edwardbot*
Nora - I agree. Most definitely Otts' fault. LOL!
Fiat - We all need our mindless CSI marathon days...or in my case, an entire weekend of House. :D

Aaaah a TV marathon............planning one of them sometime this decade...... Does 3 episodes of The Middleman count??? Got TruBlood & something else (I've obviously repressed it so it must be one Damon wants to watch....who says I'm not sympathy partner  ).
My week..........BUSY!!!!!   Against my will busy! :o Just so very rude LMAO. Just come in from TWO (2 count 'em) hours of bellydancing. My right knee is about to declare either a)war or b)totally ignorance of its role in my body. This off the back of a full work day....off the back of erm, I think the last 4 nights being out.
But on the plus - saw Bill Bailey (Black Books & co-writer/bit part in Hot Fuzz) live on Monday night. It was AWESOME 8-) :D 8-)
And of course we are week 1 of 2 school holidays (our spring break equivalent). LegoKing with me this week & his dad's next week.
I miss being able to be lazy!!!!!

I'm in Dayton and I just got my power back last night. Crazy/bad week and 2 days. Makes me feel real bad for those in Texas who got the actual storm and not just crazy wind wrecking havoc.
VL - I don't know how you did it! Over a week without power? I left after one day. I spent the time our power was out with my parents in Indiana. My husband stayed home and let me know when the power was back and it was ok to bring the kids back. My kids missed three days of school total because of that wind storm. It was a little bizzare to have "snow days" in late summer! Well, we're practically neighbors, so if you need anything just let me know. I'm about half an hour from Dayton.
TV!!! What's the latest with the wedding plans? Did you whip that wedding coordinator into shape yet?
Glori - I love Hot Fuzz. I actually gave it to H1 for his birthday a couple of weeks ago.

I didn't have much of a choice. I had to work and go to school since Wright State never went out and so they never cancelled their classes. Sinclair thankfully did that Tuesday but I didn't know that until I got on campus to go to class. I guess I could have gone to my parents in Huber, but I never thought of it and they never offered. They did offer cooked meals, though, so I went to their place in the mornings after work/before school to eat real food. And to watch some of the shows I missed since they got their power back that first Monday at 1:30pm, the lucky bastards.
We went down last weekend and has a meeting and she walked out when the restaraunt owners along with us stood up to her. So we're looking into our legal options. And basically we're re-planning everything three weeks before!
But it's all starting to fall into place! Thanks for checking!

*stumbles in from work, getting ready to go to school*
I knew taking on full time school while keeping my full time work would be difficult and tiring, but right now it just seems ludicrous. I don't want to go to school. I just wanna stay home and curl up to the last part of Breaking Dawn. Anybody wanna go to class for me? It's German 201, lots of fun! (And while that may be construed as sarcasm, it actually isn't. I really do enjoy the class, I'm just tired from not having much time for the cogs of my brain not be spinning, either from work or school).

Thanks Fiat!!!! The restaraunt is bedning over backwards to help us because they feel so bad about what the coordiantor did. And oh yes - EVERY COMMUNICATION we had with the coordiantor was via e-mail. So we have it all documented. And plenty of witnesses to how she acted at the meeting!
Still a headache though. :o

TV - Just remember what it's really all about. YOU!... and the soon-to-be significant other. As long as there are rings and a dress (sorry it's been delayed, btw) and two folks in love, the rest is icing. Good thing the restaurant is being cooperative. I usually bend over backwards for brides at mine. To the extent that I give them freebies (to the chagrin of Corporate).
And as for the coordinator. Take her way down. Incompetence and causing of bride stress is just morally, ethically wrong in my book.

Still not in??? Yikes! Does the store have a trace on it? As long as it's there in time for you to wear it, that's what counts.
And yeah, I'm with Sups - bring that woman DOWN! (sheesh fiat, so mean!)

VL - I know I said you could let me know if you needed anything...but I think German 201 is a little out of my league. I took four years of French in high school and two semesters in college, but German is beyond me. If you want to switch languages, let me know.
TV - That woman should be ashamed of herself! As a wedding coordinator it is her JOB to help the bride and ease the stress, not increase it! I'm with the rest of the gang, take her down. If you want, we could whip up an angry mob for you... *Val looks around NB for some torches and pitchforks*

Thank you Val, Fiat, and Sups!!!! It helps to have gret support! And yeah, a few of my RL friends & bridemaids are ready to go get her too!!! Good thing she actually won't be at the wedding, she might get a beat down!!!
Yeah - my dress window delivery is until next Friday but I was told they had been coming in very early. Would be that mine is the first to take the full time! But I know it will all be ok - I just can't wait to see it! I haven't gotten to try it on yet!!! So excited!!
And thanks Sups!!! I know it's all about the actual marriage, it's jsut stressful mainly because of the loss of money! That's great you are so helpful to brides! It always makes the difference when people lend a helping hand or do something nice! :)

Hey everyone
hope that everything is good. Not much going on here. Work is boring and all I've been doing is reading Spiderman at work. I'm only at issue 174. It's kind of cool reading these titles from the beginning.
The first 60 or so issues of the X-men sucked though. The only interesting storyline have been with Magneto and the Brotherhood and the Sentinels. Hopefully now in the second volume it starts to pick up.
Hope everyone is having a good week.

Val - I think I'll stick with German. French was gonna be my fallback in High School since they took German away my freshman year, but thankfully they brought it back. I love German, and class was actually good today. Really funny. We learned the word to turn somebody on (anmachen) and the word for horny (geil). It was awesome and hilarious. I'm glad I went. It put me in a better mood.
But, I still need to write a 1000 word paper due tomorrow morning at 9:45 and at some point I need to sleep before going to work tonight. I don't know that I'll make it. Stupid crazy school. Wanna write an English paper about Wilderness/the American Frontier of the early 20th century and compare what you know to Willa Cather's story 'My Antonia'? No? Really? I wonder why not...

VL - LOL! Really, I would love to help, (I do know a little about the American Frontier because I was a history major) but considering I've never read 'My Antonia' that might be a handicap.
TV - You hang in there, sweetie. It is true that the marriage and not the wedding is the most important thing. I only have flashes of memories about my wedding day twelve years later, but I have so many great memories of all those years with my husband (and with our children) and we're making new ones every day. Sorry, I'm being a little sentimental at the moment, H1 has been on a business trip all week, and he comes home tonight. I've really missed him!

Nat - I guess I was a little embarrassed to be missing H1 so much after only a week. He's just going to be traveling a lot more in this new position he now has at work, and I'm trying to adjust. He was in Paris in July, Toronto last week, he leaves for two weeks in Argentina at the end of October/beginning of November, and then two weeks in Peurto Rico in December. I'll probably adjust to the point that I'll resent when he's home, huh? ;)
Sweet - I hate to tell you, going through shots with your kids never gets much easier. Ryan had to have four shots back in June to prepare him for kindergarten. It's still hard to hold your baby down while a nurse is sticking him/her with needles, no matter the age. I hope Aiden feels better by now.
