So, what did you think about \"Godsend\" last night? Loved Hiro's sword as a placebo (ie gave him his confidence back). I really can't wait for the Avengers Assemble moment, and really am intrigued by the invisible man.
On the downside, the whole Nikki/Jessica thing feels VERY distracting to me for some reason. Oh, and let's resolve the cop storyline.
Atomic Man in the desert practicing his powers and Peter headed straight for him. Nice...

Aw crud \"Placebo Sword\" I was too literal and took it for having real power but placebo effect makes more sense
I do tend to agree about Nikki/Jessica being distracting from the main story line (and no that is not a play on being distracted because Ali Larter is hot)
I do think they are taking some steps to smooth out the cop story line but at the same time I feel his problems are also setting him up to be part of a group that will oppose the paper company group. The failed raid helped clue him in on what Claire’s dad is like. We now have 5 mutant power characters (Claire, Mohinder Suresh, Matt the cop and memory wipe guy plus Fogey) all looking sideways at Claire’s daddy & doubting his motives. This could be setting up problems and plots for a second season.
Invisible man - seems to me that his invisibility is not so much beingactually invisible but rather the power to make people ignore his presence. However I may be based by having seen that type of explanation for invisibility in both a book by Larry Niven and in an episode fo Dark Angel.
I miss Eden and was glad to hear Claire's daddy mention her loss. I don't like it when some shows forget a past character as soon as they die.
This show is a fun ride! :woohoo:

I have to agree with Nora. The Nikki storyline is annoying, but the rest of the storylines rock so far.

After the previews we saw last week ( the arm with the dress shirt and watch), I thought it might be Nathan.
Now we have TWO FAMILIES with members that have special powers.
The actor who plays Sylar is doing a good job of 'upping' the creepy psycho factor.
Can't help but look at Peter and Sylar and think that they are twins in a way. Polar opposites. Good/bad, light/dark. They both can obtain powers from the other 'special' people'. At this point, I think it is important that Peter is learning to control the powers he has gained and that he has Claire's gift. Maybe, in the long run, it is imperative that Claire is kept safe from Sylar. Maybe her power is the most important. The final showdown just might be between Peter and Sylar. My musings..................

Post edited by: Myth, at: 2007/02/06 17:21

Indeed, I have thought that the showdown between Sylar and Peter would be the season finale. They are shadows of one another, and I always wondered if the heroes have to give Peter all of their abilities to combat the abilities that Sylar has. Kind of a \"Highlander\" thing.
OOOOO, wait. What if the Peter/Sylar battle is the penultimate battle? Peter wins a-la Highlander and absorbs ALL of Sylar's powers at once. Sylar kills and consumes Nuclear guy's powers before the battle and suddenly he can't control all the influx from Sylar. Sylar of course would be drawn to Peter due to the number of powers that he already has. Hmm...could be!
Agreed. The Sylar actor is getting very good at creepy.
I am also still wondering how saving Claire is going to save the world. Was it the catalyst event that brings them all together? I've also wondered if Sylar can actually cut Claire open or if her healing factor is so fast that he can't get to her brain.
Nikki-Jessica. Still meh. The mirror was nice.
Hiro's detour was good. Another temptation along the way to becoming a hero. The Ando-Hiroko thing was hilarious, especially the cologne. 10 to 1 Ando helps save the day and gets the girl.
I also thought about the Nathan thing more. It really makes sense. He's drawn, it seems to me, to sleep with super-powered women. Claire's mom and then Nikki/Jessica.
Things are definitely heating up.

Loved the bit about Claire being Peter's niece! The remark about not knowing how the pigeons got on the roof was also a good one, nice fill in of background details that connect everything in the story. The mirror bit was good too.

I don't think you have to carry it that far, I believe drawn to sleep with hot looking blonds would cover it for him. It comes across to me as somewhat of a character/storyline stereotype: i.e. a rich guy/politician who has slept around with poor but good looking women.

What, exactly, are the powers that Sylar has absorbed?? Do we even know?? The only one that I can remember right now is the power he took from Hiro's friend....fast learning. What else?
I bet you're right Seven about Peter absorbing all the powers to combat Sylar. Claire's ability to heal and basically come back from the dead has to be 'pivotal'. I don't think the mystery of 'save the cheerleader, save the world' was ever answered....just not advertised for weeks.

From the previews...
someone dies. I am thinking it's Claire's mothe.
another person with a super power? I think Sylar gets that one right away.

Next week Hiro's little friend will probably buy the farm. He's useless. I thought someone was supposed to die last night! UGH this is starting to bug me. I really dislike Sylar, the character.

I think the Sylar-hate is there to make you cheer when Peter thrashes him. B)
Last night was a little too Lost for me, getting tons of stuff going in different directions, making a few more connections and then letting you hang in the wind.
I love me some Missi Pyle though, so I enjoyed seeing her. And when she called Hiro \"Sulu\" I just laughed...

I am starting to enjoy looking for the little side play items and hints. Things like the Sulu reference, Jessica finding out Matt could hear both her and Nikki and the way they did a close up of Nathan’s hand playing with a baseball then had a similar close up of Claire’s hand when she picked up the baseball sized rock to throw at his car. Like father like daughter?
I do wonder about Nathan’s common sense though. He is a public figure running for office so to avoid attention while paying off his former lover and the mother of his illegitimate child, he takes a limo to a slum town trailer park? Way to sneak around Nathan.:woohoo:
Looks like Claire’s stepmother is a goner. Plus since the previews say someone Hiro knows bites it there should be another death beside her. Better not be Ando! I’m still upset with the death of Eden.
Does Ando remind anyone else of a stock character straight out of one of the old Godzilla movies?

Post edited by: Fogey, at: 2007/02/13 22:32

I don't think HEROES has gotten to the 'insane no progress' of LOST yet. Good Gawd, I hope not.
I like Ando....he is a great sidekick for Hiro. It will upset me dearly if he dies.
I thought Jessica (Nikki0 was scary last night. A perfect psychopath.
I am getting tired of the writers hitting the cop so hard with the bad luck.
Sylar is awesome as the creepy bad dude. I loved how he offered to help the doc locate other people with special powers and then the doc looks at the half melted phone. Snort.
Fogey - we had two Star Trek references. The Sulu you mentioned and then Hiro at the end doing Mr. Spocks hand thingy when saying 'I come in peace'.

LOL yeah the poor guy is type cast - first he doesn't get together with Nadia and now on this show he loses his job.
I did catch the Vulcan greeting, hasn't Hiro done that in a prior episode as well?
Jessica/Nikki is indeed a good psychopath. But then so is Sylar and Claire's step dad isn't shabby in the Psycho department either not to mention no-can see-him guy who is showing Peter the ropes, etc. I think the multi-dimensional bad guys are a substantial part of the shows charm. To know him is to loathe him. (Sorry couldn't pass that one up  )
I agree the show continues to progress and doesn't spin its wheels as much as Lost does.

Well, I didn't see THAT coming. I liked it.
Stan Lee rocked.
The trio was pretty cool. Matt and Nucleo with the new gal. She was cute, too! ;)
I have to wonder if Claire's going to take a bullet for the family or maybe heal after Nucleo goes off on her.
Peter's absorption of Sylar's telekinesis proves to me again that the final showdown will be between them. I also suspect that Claude will come out of the shadows to attack Sylar but the super-hearing will tip either he or Peter off to Sylar before they can attack.
Loved that line - what's that sound I hear in your heart? Murder...
Yep. Good eppy. I think it helped that Nikki wasn't it. Oh, and I'm in love with Missi Pyle even more now.

Post edited by: Seven, at: 2007/02/20 16:38

Peter was pretty scary last night. Not only will he have to control his powers but he will also have to learn how to control his emotions....his dark side.
Next week we get some background into Jack Coleman's character...Mr. Bennett or better known as Mr. HRG. I didn't know that he played Steven Carrington on DYNASTY:ohmy:
It was a nice relief to not have Nikki or her family on the episode last night.
Missi Pyle will be on the premiere episode of ANOTHER sitcom starting soon about sisters who are wedding planners. I just took notice of the previews because of Missi Pyle. She looks hilarious in some of her scenes as an overwrought bride to be.

Fun fun episode. Claire is really doubting her stepdad.
I have to wonder if Claire's going to take a bullet for the family or maybe heal after Nucleo goes off on her.
I think Claire will join forces with the trio.
Cruddy way for Peter to lose his girl friend. Be interesting to see how he handles it. Unless they start the next episode showing him transfering some of the healing power he got from Claire inot his gal? Nope that would take too much impact away from the event.
Side note: The big guy who got in the shoot out where Ando was wounded - He and Jerry van Dyke were assistent coachs for the Screaming Eagles on the show \"Coach\" with Craig T Nelson as coach Hayden Fox. Not that that has anything to do with Heros but it bugged me till I placed him

Wow...great episode. The plot thickens and I think I am exhausted:blink:
What's her face didn't die. Is she like Claire?? Like Peter??
Little Hiro was adorable....with a mean ass father!!
I bet we don't see Claire again for a while:( I hope they forgot about Niki and family but I don't think we can be that lucky:S
HRG is a gray character but at least we know that he loved Claire. I wonder if the Haitian just 'plucked' out the memory of Claire at the brdge...or Claire's entire existence with him? If the latter, then Claire may have problems the next time she meets HRG.

Let me say that I was in the crappiest mood I've been in for a very, very long time when tonight's show came on. Lots of reasons, and by the time that the show was over, I had forgotten almost every one of them. What an amazing episode.
People from Lost, PAY ATTENTION. This show rewards its viewers while not giving away everything.
Claire's dad really redeemed himself tonight. I finally got his motivations. That moment of change when Claire helped him select his glasses when she was 13 or 14 was brilliant. He finally loved her at that moment. Finally seeing her go all Wolverine vs Phoenix with Ted. Sweet and I actually sat up on the couch and clapped.
What is it with that rooftop? Was Simone's father one of the original people in the \"group\"?
How does Hiro's dad play into this?
Who else was the Invisible Man protecting? He was shot for protecting someone???
Peter Petrelli and Claire coming into Matt's mind. Nice.
Simone's not dead. Don't know how it happens but something's going down there next week.
Great eppy. Maybe the best so far...

Well crud I typed a long post and the system kicked me out for not being signed in even though I had.
Shorter retyped version - Good episode. I bet the memory wipe went far enough that Claire will have to worry about Daddy in the future. I suspect she and The Hatian are on the road to New York where they will bump into the others.
I bet Hiro's Trek Daddy is near the top of the food chain for the Mutant Project. I also wonder if Lenderman won't turn out to be in on it? Does Hiro's sister know about the project? I could see her and Ando learning about it together and perhaps acting against it to save Hiro.
Nice Jab at Lost, Seven - so true.
I feel Simone's cure came from Peter. If they give us too many mutants they will end up outnumbering us \"normal\" folk on the show.

Sell? No.

I find Nikki, her husband and sons to be very boring. I think the writers forgot about them.
It's a good thing that the previews say that the Heroes are going to come together to save the world because, really, we are pretty spread out with all the characters. You just KNOW that Grandma has special powers....or she turned her sons over for experimentation.
So...what does everyone here think......are the powers a part of a phenomenom or from experimentation?
