Here's the description of the series from Joss Whedon, coming Fall 08' to FOX....

The drama stars Dushku as Echo, a member of a group of men and women who are imprinted with different personalities for different assignments. In between tasks they are mind-wiped, living like children in Dollhouse, a futuristic dorm/lab. A group of people, known as "Actives" (or "Dolls"), have had their personalities wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personas and hired out for particular jobs, crimes, fantasies and occasional good deeds. When not imprinted, the Actives live, childlike and unremembering, in a hidden facility nicknamed "The Dollhouse". Although the Actives are ostensibly volunteers, the operation is highly illegal, and under constant threat from a determined federal agent on one end and an insane rogue Active on the other. The story hinges around a greater and more subtle threat: Echo, a female Active, begins, in her mind-wiped state, to become self-aware.

Amy Acker has been tapped to play a co-starring role on the show.

How's everyone feeling about DOLLHOUSE so far? I'm skeptical, but I'll try it.....it's the puppet master after all.

Okay so as a long as we do not have a repeat of s4 and the initiative verses say the Matrix. Although I imagine the fight scenes could be cool. I too am skeptical but hey who would have thought I would still be talking about a teen cheerleader vampire slayer? You never know.

It's going to be on FOX, which means it'll be good but gone in 3 episodes.

Still gonna watch it, if for nothing else but Eliza and Joss.

A thread about a series that is yet to air?
Let's see, Dushku + Fantasy? Think I've already done that.
I'm in for giving the series a try.

When is it due to start? I'm assuming the next American Fall season?

Ramones, you may not need to. My other half (the one with the Y chromosome) erm, obtains stuff within 24hrs of screening (we're currently up with the UK with Who at present). If we waited down here, I may as well abandon the net & go back to cave drawings :o . But I'll remember what you said :D

Hugs 8-)

I was thinking about all the newbie viewers of a Whedon series. I think when this series starts and if it bodes well in the ratings (Fox....sheesh), then we old Whedon Timers should advise and guide the newbies in the ways of Joss

Myth - Good idea. Just remember to keep them away from the way too eccentric Browncoats. Mild ones are okay, but there are some out there that just need to be shot.

Steph - My first and foremost advise tip.......DO NOT SHIP!!!!!!!! Shipping leads to NOTHING. If a couple is happy one week then the next weekthere is a death or a catastrophe!! Joss will NEVER give you what you want!!!!!!! ROTFLMAO!!

Myth - Yeah, that's good advice, but some of us just can't help it. At least I already know to not get my hopes up 'cause nobody will ever be happy with somebody else. Some sort of tragedy will always occur.

ED looks good but I don't know about the rest of the cast. Notice how three of them have bare feet? They must be the 'jumpers' or whatever their function is supposed to be.

Ooookay. That was short and semi-sweet. Doesn't leave us much to go on, does it? I'll probably give it a try, if Fox will air it online since I won't pay for cable or Dish. I guess we'll see.

LONEWOLF WROTE:All I know about Fringe is that JJ Abrams is behind it

JJ Abrams is behind Fringe? I haven't heard anything about it.

When I take you out in the surrey with the fringe on top!
When we hit that road, hell fer leather,
Cats and dogs'll dance in the heather,
Birds and frogs'll sing all together and the toads will hop!
The wind'll whistle as we rattle along,

TERRIBLE. I personally thought the "Save Angel" campaign was done ther right way - at laest, I never heard of terribly annoying, overly whining stuff with it. (Maybe I'm just deaf like that.)

I saw the Fringe pilot at comic con. It didn't really grab me yet, it has potential but this is definitely no Lost/Alias pilot.

Re FRINGE.

You really have to watch two or three eps before you get into it. Jeremy Jackson is greate (whoever thought one would say that of a Dawson's Creek guy). And John Nobel as Walter, his father, is awesome. His character alone is worth watching at least the first 3 episodes. I will admit to being a little into the show, although no so much as to create a posting board or anything. I certainly don't need to go on and on about the minutiae of it. There's only two or three shows I'll do that for... oddly, all of them with the same creator. :D

And, sadly, I seem to be able to drum up any interest in Dollhouse. I'll probably watch it on hulu or something after it airs, but really, just can't seem to get my thang up for it.

Okay, that was a bit gross. 'specially since I don't have a thang.

I'm going to drink more coffee now.

poof

Not a hopeful article on Scifi.com. I am pleased to see that Amy Acker will be on the program. I'm kind of 'meh' about the whole thing. I'll watch at least for a while and see how it goes.

They combined tv ads for TERMINATOR and THE DOLLHOUSE and made it look like an ad for GRINDHOUSE. I thought it was funny and clever.

I'm a bit upset....I noticed that Josh has an actor who looks soooooo much like Andrew. Wish he used TL.

I think the show has promise. However based on the plot I would like to see a series setup like BSG or Lost where there is a set number of seasons and a definite end.

That didn't suck anywhere near as badly as I thought it would. Hopefully they can continue to make the show interesting.

I wasn't sure how I was gonna feel about based off its premise. But it has promise. Eliza did a wonderful job being a different person/character for each assignment. Had a little trouble computing stuff when she was on the motorbike and wearing the short short SHORT dress at the beginning that kind of reminded me of Buffy's wardrobe in the first season. That woman really knows how to make my brain garble up. It wasn't the best thing ever, and I honestly didn't think it would be, but I'm definitely sticking around to see what Joss has up his sleeve.

VL - I was reminded of Buffy first season with the dancing as well.

It was just okay for me. I'll watch again and see how it develops. One thing...at least it's something on friday night. Oh dear....Friday nights and Fox..... :?

I enjoyed Dollhouse. It wasn't like watching the first ep of firefly or anything, but it kept me entertained and Eliza does act her ass off! I'll keep watching to see what happens.

And yes, I too found myself reminiscing over the dance scene. Must they always dance with their arms over their heads? Oh. Wait. It makes for perky boobs. At least, until you get to my age. :?

So what'd everybody think? Still watching? Are you liking? I am! This episode was better than last weeks and I hope they keep getting better still.

***SPOILERS FOR THIS WEEKS EPISODE***

It was a good strong second episode, I liked the flashbacks of how things were at the beginning and how they are now. I also liked that they have already explained Amy Ackers' character's scars. Wasn't expecting an explanation so quick into the series and the fact that we got one makes me love Joss even more. It'll be interesting to see how Echo's rememberings during assignments manifests to her between assignments. And I'm also wondering if something's gonna happen and Ballard's gonna eventually somewhere down the line get feelings for Echo. I kind of see that being set up. Anybody else see that?

Much better episode this time. Honestly, right now, Echo's weekly "job" is the least interesting thing about the show. I thought the mystery of Alpha and Agent Helo's hunt for the Dollhouse were much more engaging than Echo kicking the Middleman's ass. I'd like to see more of that and less of Echo's villain-of-the-week stuff.
