I think Meyer stuck to her morality thing pretty well. Kept the sex until after they were married. And with Renesmee, horrible name, I understood it. They're supernatural beings and so stuff happens to/with them that wouldn't happen normally like humans. I just took it all in stride if I didn't like/understand something but overall I enjoyed it.
Saw Twilight again today, this time with Val. Had tons of fun and will be doing it again next weekend! :D It's fun being obsessed!
I found it quite interesting that a vampire got her pregnant seeing as how he's DEAD.....the whole sex with vampires thing always rubs me wrong....you know, no blood flow yet they maintain erections. Whatever.....
I haaaaaaaaaaaaated book 4, the Renesme thing made me almost rip that book to shreds. Meyer seems to love to always find the simple way out, no real conflict. She did that pretty much with all 4 books. Here comes a situation, stupid Bella hurts herself, wakes up and bingo, problem solved while she was out.
Boy I'm pissy today

VL- I see your point there. :D
Nora- I know, right? She went to great lengths in explaining the process of becoming a vampire (note: the points in the description where she mentions ALL organs and bodily functions shutting down) never once did she add "Oh, except for the reprodictive organs".
Ok so once I woke up and therefore was less apathetic, I decided i'm definantly going to go see the movie asap. Strangly enough it was the "you sexy thing" post that got me :P.
You people make my heart piss happiness, oh how i've missed thee.

VALERI29 WROTE:So, is it wrong that when Carlisle first appears on the screen, breezing through the doors of the hospital's ER, all I could think was (cue music)...
I believe in miracles...where you from...you sexy thing...
Floop - I can't tell you how much hearing that it was this ^^^^ that got you to give in and see the movie thrills me. There's just a few more things you should know.
1. Due to a specific Twilight fanfic that I'm addicted to, I can only think of Carlisle now as "Hot Bitch". When you see him coming through the ER doors, I think you'll understand why. 2. Whoever said that vampires were cold? Edward in the rain is H-O-T!!! and 3. Jasper sure knows just how to work his bat.
Ok, yes I am a bad, bad girl. Just ask Vampire Lady how many times I have to fan myself throughout this movie. I've seen it 6 times now, and I'm not even sure I've heard any of the dialogue. I'm just drowning in all the beautiful eye candy!!!!

She really was literally fanning herself through half the movie! "Oh look, there's Carlisle!" *fans* "Oh look, there's Jasper!" *fans* "Oh look, there's Edward!" *fans* "Oh look, there's Jasper handling his bat like a pro!" *fans while panting*

Steph - You forgot the part where you were actually fanning me at one point! We are too funny!

Yeah. I could feel the temperature in the theater rising and felt I should help you cool down just a little.
But then again, while you were panting at Jasper and his bat, I was staring at Rosalie's ass when she was running the bases.
Haha, now it seems like one can't fully enjoy the movie without the joy of watchng you two fan eachother :P.
I still havn't seen it, but i'm thinking of asking le boyf to take me saturday night. (He'd bloody want to after giving me a JOURNAL AND PEN for our anniversary. Who does that!?)
I think i've convinced myself that if I go, i'm a teen fangirl... which i totally am, but hate to admit it :P.
We're ALL teen fangirls... no matter what age or gender- you all know it's true!

I still haven't seen it, I know, horrible. I made everyone I know (who would appreciate anyway) read the books and I still haven't seen it :( lol

Floop - That is true. The 25 year old male at work that I got to read the books and has gone to see the movie has called himself a teenage girl. Not fangirl, but outright girl. I am awesome.
Kristie - Get your butt to a theater and see it! It's sooo worth it! I've seen it 6 times already, and will be going again this weekend. :D
So I MIGHT be going to see it tomorrow, but Chris' reaction hasn't made me too confident. Something about "oh no, no for the love of god no, kill me now" makes me a little uncertain :P.

Floop - Just remind him of all the shit you do for him when you really don't want to. I don't know...whatever applies...watch football, play video games, sit through Apocolypse Now (this gem was how I got my husband to agree to try to read Twilight).
Steph - I went and saw Twilight again for the 7th time. It was a "I have to get out of the hospital and go to my happy place" spur of the moment decision. It made me happy for two hours, so it was worth it. If things with my dad clear up while Twilight is still playing, you and I are so going again!

Val - I'm all for going again! I hope things improve for your dad, whether that's actually getting healthier or finding a way so he's not suffering.
I went and saw it for the 6th time yesterday. I took the day off work 'cause I was sick all day Monday (threw up at lunchtime at work) and was still feeling crappy on Tuesday so I called off. I wasn't feeling too horrible in the early afternoon so I got myself out of bed/the house and went and saw it again. Made me feel even better than I was before.
Waaaaaaaaah, road trip. I never get road trips LMAO *mutters something about the very big pond where cars don't like going*

I have seen it in the theater 9 times. Hopefully tomorrow will be 10 and I'm considering Monday or Tuesday for 11.
I love love LOVED the books. I was kinda confused by Renesmee (wtf kind of name is that anyway?) And book 4 was lack luster. I liked it but it wasn't as good as the previous 3. I am REALLY hoping the Meyer finishes Midnight Sun. I read the draft and LOVED it.
I've seen the movie 5 times (one in theaters). BTW: if you you all (val and VL) want to be able to watch it every spare moment go to this site: http://www.free-tv-video-online.info/ thats where I watch it.

I have a version on my comp. Kind of lost count of how many times I've seen it that way. But I know I've seen it 12 times in the theater!
Jedi don't be ashamed.......I have yet to see it :o !!!!
Having written that......I'm off with a girlfriend to go see it tomorrow night - 6.30pm session. Will get back to the *cough, addicts, cough* after I've seen it

Dammit! VL has passed me now. I'm still stuck on number 12. I think I may hit the theater tonight though for lucky 13.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!!!
I don't care if you surpass me again in showings, but at least I know for a little while I wasn't only 1 showing ahead of you but 2!!!! *insert evil laughter here*
And here I thought that the book made me want to groan.
So, yes, I finally got through Twilight the novel. I had to suffer through until chapter 3, but then I actually started getting into the story. There were still parts that were so sappy I wanted to hurl, but overall I enjoyed myself. I suppose I'll try New Moon, too (since many of my friends think that one of more fun), but people seem to universally hate Eclipse, so perhaps I'll stop there. Who knows.
I'll put the movie on my Netflix cue as well. But I draw the line at viewing it 15 times!

I finally saw the friggin movie. a round of applause if you will. lol it took long enough. apparently I have to move to Ohio if I want to see a movie ;)
superspy.. I thought Eclipse was ok. a few of my friends had a really hard time getting into New Moon. (I actually had to scan the book for one friend and say ..skip ahead to this page it picks up more here lol) to each their own eh? lol

Superspy - we obviously know different people 'cause most of the people I've talked to agree with me in that Twilight was good, the middle section of New Moon was highly boring and it's the worst book of the saga, Eclipse is the best of them all and is made of awesome, and Breaking Dawn is kind of a 50/50 love it or hate it. I liked it but there are a lot of people who believe Meyer was smoking crack when she wrote it, which may be true through some of it, but I still enjoyed it.
VL - If you're still on 14, you're only one ahead of me now.
Nat - I don't know who you've been talking to, but almost everyone I know who's read it loves Eclipse. It's probably my fave of the series.
Oz - I'm glad you finally saw the movie. Maybe you should at least plan to vacation in Ohio this November. Then you can come see New Moon with me and VL. :D

OMG .... I did it :o I saw the movie
IMHO & we all know how I feel    (Nora a support group could be a Good Thing   )Cliff notes - loved the music; thought the pacing could have been better; the makeup nearly made me snort my slushie drink. Would be prepared to see it twice to see what I missed & whether the pacing is not that bad.
Best aspects of movie for me was music & I thought the casting was fairly spot on (though the vamps where much better than the er, *cough* humans).
Biggest miss for me - the sparkling was wrong to my imagery. I had a true marble effect in my head - and er....... :?
Comments? Questions?
But I've done it. Read ALL FOUR books  (it nearly broke my brain) & SEEN the movie

Glori - I agree that the movie isn't perfect. I was disappointed with the sparkle effect...although considering the movie's budget, I'm sure they did the best they could. I thought some parts were a little cheesy. But as with the case with other imperfect movies I've loved (for example, I love that Luke is a whiney brat in A New Hope), I've learned to embrace its imperfections with repeated viewings. I have now turned Twilight into my own personal Rocky Horror with things I have to say and do at certain places. (It's really kind of an OCD thing now; I can't NOT say them.) It's really enhanced the movie for me...although I may be driving those poor souls who have to go with me completely insane (that would be you, VL).

Okay. I must have been smoking crack because my friends now insist they were talking about New Moon being hard to get through. They love Eclipse. Which is good, cuz I was trying to figure out how the hell I was going to get through Eclipse if it was worse than New Moon. Probably will start Eclipse tomorrow eve, when hubby works late late late. Whatever. I am enjoying the series over all.
Am I the only one who kind of likes Jacob over Edward? :? Does that make me a person? I think it mostly has to do with his being over 6'5". I looooove me the tall men! And I got over the angsty romance thing a decade ago. Of course, I'm only on book 2.
Still haven't seen the movie. Perhaps my hubby will get a gig up in Ohio and I'll get to see Val's Twilight Picture Show. :D
And I'm glad to hear the sparkly thing is funny, cuz I was wondering how they were going to pull that off. I always see Edward in the sun as being an inner thing. Not glitter. More like celophone on paper. Skin so thin you can see the thing below. Like when you put a flashlight to your hand.

Nat - During the sparkle scene, Edward unbuttons his shirt. To the person next to me (thank god I've always known that person so far), I chant "sparkly peen, sparkly peen"! Yes, that is my childish way of requesting to see Edward's penis sparkle.
Now doesn't that make you want to come to Ohio and watch Twilight with me? :D

Ok, I'm not sure how many of you heard, but theres a rumor that Vanessa Hudgens is trying out to play Leah Clearwater in New Moon. For those of you who don't know her, she's an actress from High School Musical and she also does Neutragena commercials. I hate this, my sister hates this, and all of her friends hate this. I think it's bad enough New Moon was kinda boring so let's not put in a horrible wooden actress to make it worse. The only thing she's good at is singing, and I'm pretty sure the Quileutes aren't going to be bursting into song.
By the sounds of it I'm thankfully, blissfully unaware of who you are talking about Jedi :D .
Super personally I'm with you on the Jacob v Edward (I know, I know...away from the vamps). Actually, I'd possibly be more a Team Jasper kinda gal :? .
Val & Super - the sparkles for me I had in mind was real marble in the sunlight - which is kinda sparkly in a twinkling star kinda way. Not the myriad of clear cut glass prism-ing that seems to be what they went for *sigh*. Ce la vie.
oh & Val..........I've DONE the Rocky Horror thing & can totally imagine Twilight getting that type of thing going.....though I can imagine rounds of "Bite Her" aka Janet's "slut" style comments..........
Plus, today I tried to get hold of the INSTRUMENTAL soundtrack (not the what she wrote to s/track....which imho are fairly tame songs from some of the respective bands being listed). The drums are amazing

I do/say a lot of them with you, so you're not making me insane. It all enhances the viewing(s)!
Ooooh, Vanessa Hudgins be so wrong. My girls are obsessed with High School Musical and I just tune her out most of the time. I think she got better in the second movie, but not much.

I'm not going to believe any casting rumors until filming actually starts. Even then, someone could always get fired. Now, the rumor I do hope is true...and it seems to be from pretty reliable sources...is that Taylor Lautner will be back as Jacob in New Moon. So, he won't exactly fit the physical characterists that SM stated in the books. So what. Neither did the actress they cast as Alice, and I think she's great! Alice is like 4 feet 10 in the books.
VLVampire Lady49 posts in this thread
#198 · Jan 22, 2009
Val - That's true about Alice, but there's a big difference between little Alice and the BIG change that Jacob goes through. Whatever they do, it's gotta be noticable.
And the director himself has said that Taylor will be back as Jacob. It's not a rumor, it's fact. He wrote a letter to the fans explaining it. I got it since I signed up for the Twilight update emails at the Summit website.
I just found out that the DVD comes out on March 21st. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
