Boy, I heard that, Lone. It is hideous right now in the South. I am STILL at work right now, and just don't want to be here. Less than an hour to go.

I love August. 8-) Best month of the year.
I've had a proper weird week. I threw a huge strop with a bed delivery guy who parked across my driveway on Saturday and wouldn't move even though I was sitting in the car WAITING TO LEAVE. After shouting at him to move (and getting no response) I called him a fucking cock. Extremely loudly. Later that day I was mowing the lawn and discovered a dead mouse... just in the nick of time before I mowed over it and got showered with dismembered bones and flesh. I stupidly put the mouse in my wheelie bin, so come Wednesday when the bins were emptied, there was a nice little gang of maggots in there. Maggots make me feel physically sick but I live alone so I had to deal with it... boiling water and bleach on top of the little bastards did the trick.
My next door neighbours basically disappeared for the whole of last week (she was gone, he was coming and going and leaving the dog for long hours, who was howling constantly). This week she's back, appears to have had the baby but I haven't heard or seen it even once. Do hospitals make soundproof babies? I don't think so. What's going on?? :?
I have an evil insect bite on my lower knuckle which itches like buggery. And I have spent the whole week trying to fill in an application form for the church admin position, which has been really difficult. This week is just weird weird weird.

*tacklehugs Selz*
That is, indeed, an odd week. Wish I could've seen you yelling at that asshole delivery dude.
I'm at work today. Fun. Stupid question of the day: "Can I still get child support on my kids if the youngest is 21?"
I love lamp.

Can't it be Labor Day weekend yet? And then go back to it being the beginning of August, that way I get the fun of Dragon*Con without the annoying start of school to directly follow?
LOL I love that idea. And I'm jealous; I was REALLY hoping to go do D*C this year, but new job makes getting time off a bit hard and I have to save all my begging for wedding-related stuff. :(

That sucks. I can barely afford to go this year since I moved out of my folks place in May. Bills kinda cut into what I already had saved in the first place. I'm just glad I'm sharing a room with 3 other people and have somebody driving to and from with me so I don't have to pay for all the gas this year. But wedding plans are more important. And I'm sure depending on who you're begging and how you're begging, you could probably get just about anything you want. ;)
*stumbles in, still dazed* How did we get to August???? *pouting* Little too expensive for D*C, though it is one of the few American ones I'd be interested in attending. *writes note to self* When getting to the US, try to remember the dates for cons & be in the right city at the right time. *sticks note onto laptop*.

Glori - at least if you are coming this way the exchange rate rocks! I have guests coming from England, Germany and France who are all whooping that the Euro is trouncing the dollar.
grumbles because the trip to Europe will be expensive and thus put off.
Hey, everyone! Happy August. The kids go back to school in T-minus-19-days! Weeeeee!

Super I know! When I was in Hawaii the rate was about 68US cents to our dollar. Now, it's nearly head to head
One of the (many) reasons why my other half was in SUCH DEEP doo-doo with me earlier this year. I'd been planning on November this year to do the American trek (what with people literally coast to coast & places in between *looks at Ramones & Hippie specifically*)......then 'stuff' was revealed & it's had to go on the waiting list. Bah! :?

Okay, not really. But hubby's b-day is November also, so there's more than the usual celebrating going on.

Hippie - yes really (& we have that type of month in June actually *lol*). August is the birth month of the LegoKing.
Fiat actually it did get serious in the "will we make it as a couple & no I will not be marrying you until you sort your *&^(*(^*( out dear". He's on it & is half way there but my job which is contracted until mid-October (you can see where Novembver came into it *lol*) has been the 'breathing space' we needed to get his s*&# together. We've been working through it & it's all good now. Well, excepting the non-travel component :| .
Lottery would be good. My other half has this back up idea that it will be ME who gets a rather large 6 figure book deal when I get my act together  . It's up there with the lottery as far as I'm concerned (though I am actually writing books LOL  ).
I cannot BELIEVE I'm up this EARLY (it's 6am at time of writing) so that LegoKing can make his Year 10 subject selections as school. They are numbered on receipt into the office so if he wants his preferences ....... wants to be at the school at 7am (this from the boy who is flat out waking up before 9am)...............I mean......how popular is accelerated maths, science....not to mention computer programming
