Can't do anything 'bout Canadian politics, but hope that there are more intelligent, otts-like folk rather than lemmings.

As for our election cycle, I am kinda hoping that a certain elephantine candidate goes completely berserk during a presidential debate... or even before. He has quite the temper when even remotely provoked during debates and I think if Americans saw more of temper the landscape here would change. I have a friend who's a Veteran and suffers from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder who feel that no one with PTSD, let alone someone who was tortured for 5 years, should be in charge of the red nuke button.

Okay, I better stop before the Secret Service comes a knockin'. :?

Of course, I live in Virginia where even the most loyal Dems are having trouble with the idea of a person of darker skin in the White House. The quotes I've heard while phone banking for Obama have been a real eye opener.

It's going to be a long election cycle.

*takes a Timbit*

I'm not surprised at all. My family is from Mississippi and while my mother did not raise me to see color, she did say once she would never approve of me dating a black man. My best friend growing up was black and that's okay, but dating? Not so much. Her reaction to finding out I was dating a French-Canadian was priceless though: "Canadian? Canadian? Oh my God, he's probably a liberal, isn't he?"

Yes, Nora, my love, you are weird. :o

I know, your older brother warped you irreparably. :P

Did I spell that right? My back is acting up so I'm taking pills, which somehow robs me of the ability to spell confidently. :?

We're a disappearing species. Our dear Conservative government is hell-bent on re-engineering Canadian society to its image, namely by cutting funding to groups that don't share it's agenda. Recently they cut some cultural funding programs because - among other things - a band called "Holy Fuck" had benefited from those programs... as well as some left-leaning writers.
Officially twisted since 1971.

Otts, are they writers that have to lean to the left to hold the pen right when they are making their art????

I like how WE are getting a simulated blow-by-blow 2nd to 4th top billing news items on the American election......er, I know we have TinTin running our country but last time I looked I still had to have my fingerprints taken & a passport to land at LAX     . The amount of soundbytes on tv, radio et al are amusing of each speech, who appeared when.....I'm waiting til we start getting the weather reports for the outside gatherings so we know if there should be lots of people there or not.

Down here, that only happens if you are an Olympian.....Wallaby....an AFL "God"...or Rugby League Lord... and let us not forget anyone that wears "the baggy green cap" aka cricket players (they are all Gods/Demi-Gods depending on age etc)....Policiticans are waaaaaaaaaaay down the list of being taken any notice of. Possibly why it is compulsory to vote here    .

Hey Nat! I'm sorry I missed you earlier. I was in deep mourning and depression (if you want to know why go to Un-Whedon and check out Twilight post). I guess I wasn't being very observant! How are you doing? Kids back in school now? My oldest starts this coming Tuesday. But my youngest will be in kindergarten and they don't start until Friday! Friday? Is it just me, or is Friday a goofy day to start school?!!? So really, I have another entire week before I can look forward to any peace and quiet! I agree, those days of being able to clean without someone going along behind you to destroy what you've just done are worth longing for! To be able to get to the computer to visit here or to write my Sunday School lesson in peace! *contented sigh*
