MYTH WROTE:DON - Just went through the reviews for THE HAPPENING and I think I will have a temper tantrum about seeing it. Temper tantrums still work with parents at any age  Maybe I'll see the HULK instead....the reviews are pretty decent.

Good call.

I so hope the reviews for WANTED are good!!

Here's the red band trailer. It can only be shown in front of R-Rated movies.

The Adam Sandler movie something or other Zohan is one the LegoKing is eyeing off *sigh*. Teenage boy movies are ruling now in this house . Then the big boy (he's 36 *LMAO*) & the LegoKing want to go see Hulk (just opened here) - I'm thinking boys own outing !

I'm still thinking Kung Fu Panda is appealing  but balance that with wondering how HellBoy 2 shall go (we get it um, I think early July...).

Yesterday did an Underworld, Underworld Evolution to finish up with 50 First Dates marathon. Nothing like walrus humour after that pesky vamp v lycan war...

Nora - I have THERE WILL BE BLOOD but haven't had the nerve to watch it as yet. DDL is so intense an actor that he just unnerves me. I must find courage!!

Saw THE INCREDIBLE HULK. I liked it! I really, really liked it!!! LOL. I found it very entertaining from beginning to end. Love Edward Norton and I thought he did a fine job directing. Loved the surprise ending with Robert Downy Jr. :P

Otts wants to see Hellboy 2 when it comes out. The scary thing is that the preview actually had ME interested.

I watched comfort fluff on Monday night - "Miss Potter" with Renee Z. and Ewan M. all about Beatrix Potter of "Peter Rabbit" fame. Nothing to write home about, but I find it soothing.

Hulk was way better than I had thought.

Kung Fu Panda: Kiddie faire but not so awful.

watched

IJ4 it was just okay not great but okay.

at home I watched Stardust: Love that movie and The Holiday I don't know why but I love that as well.

Fiat, I too have been seduced by the promotional stuff for Hellboy 2 (the fact I didn't mind the first one doesn't count either :P).

So, Ramones is Kung Fu one I'd want to try for a session sans short, young people? I think I'd like to go see it but not with a room full of under 10s etc.

Kung Fu is not bad but unless you have to bring a kiddie wait until it goes to DVD. The show is filled with kiddies and they are loud and crazy!

I want to see Kung Fu Panda as well but I will wait for the dvd. I am actually drooling over WALL-E. I'm am truly upset that my kids are too big now so I don't have an excuse to see it at the theater. Love the previews for HELLBOY II. What amazes me is that the actor who plays Hellboy is 58 years old and I think he does a lot of his own stunts  You can definitely tell that the PAN'S LABYRINTH peeps were involved in this flick.

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO there for WANTED next week. The advance reviews are excellent. Frank Miller even likes the flick despite the fact that they changed the main characters to be 'heroes' and not totally bad ass villains.

Saw the trailer for Repo A Genetic Opera  OMG  Tony Head is all badass & evil (plus you don't even realise that young Paris girl is in it, til you find something else on YouTube that shows this fact)........

Described as a cross between Rocky Horror & Blade Runner :o

Heaven knows when we get it. You US of As get it in August . Hrmph.

Never even heard of it Glori. I'll keep an eye out....it will probably go straight to dvd. Awesome about ASH but yuck to Paris Hilton.

Rented STRANGE WILDERNESS because I am a Steve Zahn fan. Horrible movie. Soooooooooooooooo bad and terribly gross and not in a funny way. Some of the commentaries were funny though...here's two of the best lines IMHO:

"80% of the monkey population is made up of monkeys".
"Sharks can only be found in 2 places on earth....the Northern and Southern Hemisphere".

I could see that on a T-shirt....... 8-)

Because I haven't had caffeine yet I can't be arsed finding the link, but typing Repo into IMDB will give you info. :) They were in Canada to do the shoot apparently.

Myth have only seen one trailer once for HellBoy - not sure when it's opening down here. It has become so confusing. Used to be able to say "American summer = Australian summer" ie we waited til December :o but, now it's all over the shop to the point we can get them before you guys !

I've been watching lots lately. Had a teen movie marathon and went through Pretty in Pink, 10 Things I Hate About You, Josie and the Pussycats, Clueless, Juno, Valley Girl, Orange County. Also watched some other stuff, Hard Candy, I Am Legend, Blue Crush, Honey, Chasing Liberty, Old School, The Dark Half, Big Daddy, 50 First Dates. I'm pretty sure I'm missing some 'cause I've practically been doing nothing but watching DVDs, but I think you get the picture. 8-)

Is Ferris Bueller's Day Off in that missing list VL??? I mean if you're going to to teen (including Pretty in Pink) Ferris should be there.

Saw a 10pm session of Kung Fu Panda last night. LegoKing (nearly 14) was one of, if not the youngest in the cinema. Everyone was laughing at spots & was a good session to go see it.

Given we saw it about 1/2 hr off the back of watching the latest New Dr Who :o. I say no more !!!

WALL-E - Adorable. Good family film with a message. Pixar does it again. Loved it.

WANTED - I took my mother who wanted to take a nap because she thought is was going to be a loud, bloody shoot 'em up film (she has never forgiven me for CLOVERFIELD and TRANSFORMER LOL). It was loud, bloody and there was plenty of shooting.... but my mother came bouncing out of the theater loving the film. I think she liked it better than me  It was good but it was just a little too sad for me. Love James McAvoy and he makes a great action type hero/antihero. Angelina Jolie was good but mostly window dressing. She does look like she can kick ANYBODY'S ass btw. In a way I hope there will be a sequel to see what happens to the main character. Bonus for me....Thomas Kretschman was in the film.....yum. The Russian director did the NIGHTWATCH series of films. It was wonderful to see him use the star male actor from those films.

Next week HANCOCK and then HELLBOY. I like July :D

Saw previews for the new Mummy movie. Jet Li is the Mummy.....love the idea!

Myth I have NO CHOICE in watching Dr Who *roflmfao*  ! My other half is *cough, splutter* obsessed with the series (the WHOLE series - even the stuff back in the day :o). He lives over at Outpost Gallifrey *shakes head*. Sad, sad man !

I'll have to ask him if he knows of dear lil Billie's latest turn. She has just screened here doing the Austen shows (umm was it Mansfield Park - I've already forgotten :?).

Have been on a movie kick...

Wanted: Lots of violence and blood and gun fights. Pretty harsh but I was in the mood for violence and I got it. Over all not so bad.

Wall-e; Well okay I knew I had to go since it is a kiddie thing and the kid wanted to go and it was well better than average but I got the message about how we are sloth like superconsumers and well it was cute but preachy.

Far from the madding crowd(gotta love the Thomas Hardy)

Mayor of Castorbridge(again with the Thomas Hardy)

State of Play (BBC production...pretty good mystery)

Middletown: you know me a sucker for MM.

Definitely Maybe: ehhh it was okay.

Jumper: Hated it...

Ramones - I didn't even finish watching JUMPER.

HANCOCK - I liked it...worth an afternoon admission ticket. I liked Charlize Theron in her role but I was super impressed with Jason Bateman. Oh how I miss ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT....sniffle.

VANTAGE POINT - Better than I thought it would be. Kept me going to the end but I am still glad I waited for dvd. If you haven't seen it, than wait for cable.

Last weekend I went to go see Wall-E with my family. I was kind of skeptical, since I thought it was going to be another stupid kiddie movie, but it was actually really good. There were parts that didn't even feel like animation, and it had a good message which didn't feel like it was being shoved down my throat.

Rented lots of movies last weekend and saw Wall-E.

Wall-E was good. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The robots were just too adorable. Felt the message was a bit strong but it worked for what it was doing. Mindless sloths I would not like to become.

Rented and watched:

Jumper. I actually enjoyed for the most part, but I tend to like mindless dribble at times. I was just surprised at how short it was.

The Messengers. I didn't like it. Thought it was boring.

Superbad. AWESOME! Funniest movie I've seen in a long time!

Rise: Blood Hunter. It was good. Lucy Liu as a vampire who didn't want to be a vampire. I really like it. Plus, vampires. :D

P.S. I Love You. Really good. James Marsters looked wierd with dark hair, which I know is his natural, but still too used to the platinum. Jeffrey Dean Morgan with an Irish accent = FUCK YEAH! Plus you see his butt.

Cloverfield. Very very good! Was a little skeptical but I'm glad I watched it.

What Is Love? I think that's what it's called. I don't know, I barely watched 10 minutes of it before turning it off. Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Matthew Lillard were my reasons for getting it. It was complete crap.

Southland Tales. Again, only watched about 10 minutes of it. Complete crap, which I heard, but I still had to see SMG as a porn star.

Suburban Girl. Meh. I've seen better but I've also seen worse. Was just getting a non-Buffy SMG fix.

That's all of 'em. I got all 9 rentals for only $4.28 for 5 nights. I love Family Video!

Summer DVD's

Vantage Point - I just finished it earlier. I got annoyed by watching the same basic thing over and over. I also cannot sit for more than five minutes if I'm not completely dug into a movie, I have RBS (Restless Butt Syndrome) so I kept wanting to get up and getting confused as to why I was seeing the same thing over again. Overall it was alright. I'm glad I waited to DVD (as someone else already said).

Mad Money - I hated it. 'Nough said.

Untraceable - I saw a foreign film with the same theme so it was a bit of a let down. I enjoyed it - it was a bit creepy. Nothing to write home about.

The Eye - I don't think Jessica Alba can act and this proved it more for me than that Chuck movie with DC. The Japanese version was MUCH better. They need to stop re-making the Japanese horror films, they are upsetting me. The originals are better IMO.

Semi-Pro - I was amused. Not my favorite Will Ferrell movie. But to see him with a fro and short shorts was enough for me. I'm hoping Step Brothers will redeem his level of awesome-ness.

Jumper - Yeah what was the whole point? I missed it. Needless to say wasn't impressed.

Wedding Date - HAH typical teen/humor/stupidity fest. Didn't do much for me.

Little Voice - I cannot say enough good things about this movie. I loved it. It wasn't the best film ever made but it had it's moments. Michael Caine can do no wrong for me.

Things to Do Before I'm 30 - Or it might've been a list of things whatever. Amber Benson was in this lifetime flick - I found it extremely amusing.

Saw The Dark Knight on IMAX (the only way to see it) and it's as good as, if not better than, the reviews are saying it is. It's a brilliant epic crime drama.

Leave the little one at home though...very intense flick.

Have heard it's awesome.

Thanks Woody. Have had a journalist friend see a preview a few days & also warned of the intense scenes. Uphill battle (remember when you were an invincible 14yr old LOL, but I diverge).....plus it's been given an M rating not MA15+ (which means usually he is allowed to go see).

Am contemplating taking him - but (always the parental but ) if we go, it'll be a daytime going in & still daylight coming out session (not on imax size screen either).

Can you think of anything (movies or tv) comparable for intensity?

Glori - in short, Baby Mama is about a late 30-something single, professional woman who has been told she can't carry a child so she opts for surrogacy. Her "match" is a white trash chick. (Gal even calls herself white trash in the movie.) It could have almost been halfway decent... but it wasn't.

Selz - I suppose it had to end so abruptly with a retired an shaken Tommy Lee Jones. As a Sheriff/policeman his time had passed. I don't remember correctly but I think that at the beginning of the movie the voice over says that his father and grandfather were lawmen in the West. The West changed especially with hitmen like Javier Bardem running around. It was definitely not a country anymore for TLJ. Sometimes I go to imDb and read the comments from viewers and those reviews can be helpful and awesome.

DARK KNIGHT - Yep, yep, yep.......damn good. Looooooooooooooong though....butt numbing long but worth it. Heath Ledger's Joker was a work of art and I can him being nominated posthumously for his acting in this movie. Definitely dark like the reviews say and I expect the next movie will be dark too.

Saw previews for WATCHMEN. Never read the graphic novel. Looks interesting....and weird too.

Saw previews for the new Termonator film coming out next year. **jumps up and down in excitement**. Christian Bale plays John Connor. Looks delicious :P
